Madden NFL 10: Creating an NFL Defense

Play: 3-4 over, cover 3
Playbooks: 3-4, pittsburgh, NYJ, BAL, any PB with 3-4 over

Setup
1) Shift line left
2) Blitz left outside LB with right stick (outside LB left on screen)
3) Place left MLB in flat to the left

The great thing about the play is it’s a cover 3. You can adjust so easily with this defense to whatever the offense is doing. For example, you can place the SS in a hook zone on a purple to the right if they’re hitting you with corner routes to the right, or double the outside WR if necessary.

The QB has little time to get the ball off as the outside pressure comes in almost instantly. With this defense you can shut down most sets easily with the proper adjustments.

should not take all this just to keep someone from getting a 1st down. Defense needs to be a focus of these game at some point, some year

So if you are playing online do you ever have time to make all these adjustments before the ball is snapped?... No.

I've been using this for awhile (before they made it public). It's simple: DE occupies OT, OLB runs free. Not too fancy.

Does anyone else get particularly annoyed by that guy's voice? I watch a lot of their videos and my gosh he drives me NUTS! Even my GF gets annoyed hearing his voice in the distance lol!

I thought it was the opposite. I thought of someone who never learned what the purpose of voice inflection variance. Instead he emphasizes unimportant words and syllables at an aggravating rate, like a child!

aaanyway, I love football strategy so I still check out all the videos lol. It's frustrating that a lot of tips they don't post on OS are more "freestyle" oriented in the sense that they beat the CPU, not a football defense usually. I can back the stuff they show here, but not some of the others.

I'd still take tips over no tips... unless I break my mute button and have to listen to this guy

Almost impossible against the CPU though. I barely had enough time to shift my DL and hot route my ROLB to blitz lol...only a few times was i able to shift my MLB to the flat. It does bring some nice heat. But it seems like i got burned more often than not...

Unless I am missing something, by pulling the MLB to cover the flats won't that create a nice big void in the middle? Seems like a slant from either side takes care of this?
