Start of franchise mode
Would be nice if we could start off a franchise mode in April before the draft. I think it'd be great to re-do the draft as YOU see fit, especially in online franchise. Feel like this wouldn't take much effort on the part of Looman and the team, but it would be a real nice touch.Tags: None -

this was in Head Coach 09 and it indeed was a nice touch, pretty much everything in that game was perfect except that i want to play the game.. thats where madden needs to come in and hopefully it does in M11

Completely agree. I'd like to take it a step further, and have the ability to start Franchise at ANY point in the NFL history, even year 1.Comment

Re: Start of franchise mode
If you want! I think there would be two modes, one where you redefine history, and another where you relive it via the drafts / acquisitions, and the only thing you can change is the outcome of the games themselves. It's my dream mode (that and coupled with a story based franchise).Comment

Re: Start of franchise mode
The problem I have with this is you would be essentially starting the franchise in year two not year one, because by the time Madden ships its preseason and the draft and free agency have already happened. By going through the draft again you would have double the number of rookies for that season, which would be a little odd.
If you wanted to start in the offseason you can simply simulate the first year, which would you give you same effect.Comment

No, you'd start at the draft...Comment

What the people in this thread are referring to are starting at the beginning of the prior offseason, i.e. rather than starting a franchise in this season's preseason, the starting date would effectively be March 5 of this year (the day which the 2010 NFL free agency period started). For example, you could take control of the Rams and decided whether to draft Sam Bradford, trade for Donovan McNabb and draft Ndamukong Suh, or just trade out of #1 overall altogether. This was one of the two alternatives allowed in NFL Head Coach 09.The problem I have with this is you would be essentially starting the franchise in year two not year one, because by the time Madden ships its preseason and the draft and free agency have already happened. Personally, I'd just like to be able to start after the draft at the beginning of some sort of meaningful minicamp in the game, where I can cut down from 80 to 53 man rosters. Hopefully, such a mode would make me do something to make my roster management more than "this guy is worse overall than the other", or "these two guys are the same overall rating, but one is younger / faster / has a better whatever-rating-I'm-looking-at".Comment

Re: Start of franchise mode
Good explanation. I'd want to do the draft, as there are several drafts / trades that haven't made sense for teams (how many TE's do the Titans need for example). To me, the season doesn't start at the first PreSeason game, it officially starts after the Super Bowl is played. What the people in this thread are referring to are starting at the beginning of the prior offseason, i.e. rather than starting a franchise in this season's preseason, the starting date would effectively be March 5 of this year (the day which the 2010 NFL free agency period started). Re: Start of franchise mode
Meh, it's not that big of a deal to me. I can understand why some would want this, but I think it should be optional for people like me. See, I like to start my first year as if I'm a new HC/GM with the organization and everything that happened before I got there I just have to deal with, like a real HC would. I don't wanna go back and do the draft all over again. I want the rookies right where they are lol.PSN - Splff3000

Re: Start of franchise mode
I get it now, still seems kind of pointless to me, I guess as long as you're given a choice where to start. I wouldn't want to redo the draft and throw the rosters off your first year, I like playing the first year with the real rosters and going from there. I guess this feature could be appealing to some, if you really wanted your team to draft Sam Bradford you would have the chance to do it.What the people in this thread are referring to are starting at the beginning of the prior offseason, i.e. rather than starting a franchise in this season's preseason, the starting date would effectively be March 5 of this year (the day which the 2010 NFL free agency period started). I think it was NBA Live that had that option. Great idea. GREAT idea.
I also wish we could reset divisions like the PC version of Madden used to let you do (and 2K5). I always liked doing a Franchise with Dallas playing the Saints, Texans, Rams and Cards or the Ravens replacing the Dolphins in the AFC East, etc.Don't look back too long and don't look too far ahead.Comment
