Until they fix blocking it will always be poor. They need to differentiate some of the player positions as well. So teams won't grab 3-4 ends in a 4-3 team during FA and fantasy drafts.
Now that we have locomotion we need momentum. And with that the weight of your defense will matter versus the run. To test if they have failed Madden 11 the devs need to plug in punters and kickers into the offensive line and see if they get tossed aside. Until they are EA Tiburon has more work to do.Comment

I agree with you. Until this gets fixed: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aMyOwnkldyE (just a brief example of a nano that happens all the time different ways with different LBs running right through the middle of my Line)...
I don't the 3-4 and 4-3 defenses need to be touched. (I'm not saying there isn't a problem with it..I'm just saying that the basic principle of blocking isn't even right).Comment

well my dude I have been saying this since last year and EA hasn't once talked about anything on the defensive side of the ball. Lineman getting double teamed, 3-4 felling like a real defense and does it's purpose, and defensive game strategy. Have have not once heard anything about defense.Comment

if they would just FIX the blocking overall...The 3-4 would at least perform better.
But we all know there is a TON of work to do regarding the OL/DL. Locomotion can and will help....We will only really find out when....There is a community day even...and then when retail hits.
We can read all the blogs we want....Watch all the vids that come out...Listed to developer interaction (GREAT that we have that) etc.....But we will only really know when the final copy drops in august.Comment

They did go through last year before 10 came out to verify how many teams last season ran the 3-4.
I know the Steelers, Jets, Packers, Cards, Chargers, Cowboys, Broncos, 49er's and Ravens all ran the 3-4 in 10. Didn't play the Pats, Chiefs, Brows or Dolphins.
Out of those 4 teams, which one didn't run the 3-4 in Madden?Comment

i clearly dont know what you guys are talking about. 95% of madden player use the 34 defense in madden 10. these clearly means that the 34 defense is dam effective. the 43 defense is clearly on unseable in madden 10, but you guys want to makes the 34 more effective.Comment

It's effective because you have more speed on the field with 4 linebackers instead of 3 that the 4-3 defense offers you, plus the 3-4 playbooks are less vanilla than the 4-3 playbooks which helps a lot in scheming. It's not effective for the reasons it effective in real life which deals with double teaming the NT, and the pass rush being the main reasons among many others.Comment
