Why does Madden have the weakest franchise/dynasty mode...

First time poster here, long time Madden fan (though admittedly I have not bought it new since 07). Year by year I've been keeping up with the game just cause I miss having a football franchise I could look forward to every year.

My problem is, I'm a franchise mode guy first and foremost. Madden's franchise mode is mostly the same thing it was 5 years ago.

You look at MLB the show, and even NBA 2k, their franchise modes are incredibly deep. In the Show, they've got everything from the farm system to arbitration hearings etc etc, everything that MLB general managers use to improve their teams. In 2K, same thing. The free agency is awesome, how you can construct the contracts and throw in no trade clauses and player/team options and stuff. They use the NBDL as well.

Madden, is still just the basic, unrealistic free agency stuff. For years I wanted Madden to factor in the expanded pre-season rosters, the practice squad, realistic use of the franchise and transition tags etc. They never did this stuff (at least last I checked, some of it could have been added in '10 so correct me if I'm wrong.

Franchise mode is really the best thing about sports games. Why is Madden's so mediocre in it's depth?

Its the Devs.... Just like in Pro sports when your favorite sports team isn't getting the job done and shows the same lackluster results year after year who is the problem?

Because NBA2k and MLB the Show have actual competition to push them
Madden has no competition, why work on the product when you know people will still buy the game

Yeah but they didn't do that much innovating with franchise even when 2K was around.

What I don't get is, why is there no competition? Is the exclusive license they have different than 2K's MLB license? Cause I know with 2K's exclusive license, the companies that make the systems (Microsoft, Nintendo and Sony) can still have MLB games if they want them, hence why The Show exists.

So I take it EA's NFL license makes it so NOBODY else can make them? That sucks.

NFL really isn't that important.

That is what the NFL is doing by allowing it.

Gaming = future interest in a sport. If a FIFA games or MBL games outsell NFL for 6 years you can bet when these kids get older where there interests will be.

I can say for sure my interest in NFL games from playing Tecmo Bowl and then later Madden. If I had beenplaying a MBL game all those years football might now be that important to me.

Maybe the people managing those sports realize this?

Or it could just be all luck of the draw on who makes the game.

Right now NFL is all about the short term money making in sports and not long term creating interest in the sport. Churn and burn.

well IMO the franchise was fine on last gen consoles so they didnt really have to "innovate" just keep adding and improving, why they decided to take EVERYTHING out when they came to 360/ps3 is a mystery

yes, nobody can make a NFL game, im sure 2K didnt expect Sony(or anyone) to make a great game(or even attempt one) like the show

I don't see how you could think franchise was fine, it wasn't anywhere near as realistic as other games are with their franchise modes.

at the time it was

NBA2k and the Show are putting out true next gen franchise modes.

however at this point i would take my last ps2 madden over madden 10 when it comes to franchise(and alot of other stuff) that just shows how bad the franchise mode is

Franchise mode was enjoyable last gen. I dont recall other games franchise modes being that deep back then like they are now.

So its like the other games got deeper with it and madden got worse.

EXACTLY
its like other titles knew that it was franchise that made madden successful so they tried to emulate it and now surpassed it

while madden took it for granted and said "franchise wasn't what made us good it was other stuff" so they didnt put the time and effort that other games put into their franchise

I honestly don't think the franchise is that bad, it could be worse. Sometimes I feel like it's already too much stuff to do in the football franchise.

I'm new to MLB The Show, and I admit I dont know what to do with half the stuff and just leave it to the CPU. But, if Madden had that many options/features I would be all over it. Sad to say though, its prob never going to happen. Best we can hope for at this point is all of the current off line franchise stuff making it online.
