No, this generation of graphics have hit the ceiling with consoles. It did so probably years ago. PC gaming has technically hit a higher level with the release of DX11 and the mega powerful video cards, but I doubt Madden looks any different until the next-next gen consoles. Since I'm a hardcore PC gamer and stay up to date with stuff like this, I'm guessing I'm close to right. Anybody with more insight correct me.
I was thinking the only thing they can do to fool people into believing better graphics is be add that glossy look. Kinda like the first Project Gotham.Last edited by ChampN252; 05-15-2010, 10:24 AM. -

i hear madden 11 is suppose to look like NCAA 11 once they add the new lighting. that is a big upgrade from madden 10 as far as graphics. So there still improving, but i think it will take around 10 years for the graphics to look like were watching a real game. problem is we might have to have bad framerate in order to do so.I will always, always be a Jets fan. But trust me it hurts.Comment

Yeah, but thats old stuff that should have already in the game. Maybe an improve to Madden, but progressive lighting has been around for ages and is different from straight graphics.i hear madden 11 is suppose to look like NCAA 11 once they add the new lighting. that is a big upgrade from madden 10 as far as graphics. i'd be content if they just upgraded the grass (to look like the fifa games where you can see individual blades of grass) and the crowd. Crowds are such an eyesore in these games, I can't believe they don't even attempt to make them look better.
The sidelines could definitely use some upgrading also.Comment

its not progressive lighting. its lighting of the overall game. completely different with shadows and stuff like that. makes it look 10x better. just look at NCAA screenshots.I will always, always be a Jets fan. But trust me it hurts.Comment

As said up there, I agree that it won't be until the next upcoming generation of console power to be able to produce a realistic look for madden. Jersey/Pad movement and physics, grass i guess, better and active sidelines/end zones and crowds. Photo realistic textures, shadows, lighting.... yeah, it'll be awhile until we see that lolBleed Green 24/7... EAGLES!!

Yeah definitely not until next gen at least. If not the gen after.
Depends how cheap improved graphics cards will cost in 5 years.
Photo-realism is still quite a while a way. But within the next 10 years, it should be here.Comment

you guys really want these games to cost $100 huh? there is a reason toy story and shrek or whatever look as good as they do. First of all they take 3-5 years to make those movies and they have $100 + million dollar budgets.
there is a balance that has to be struck between realism and production cost/timetable. There is a point of diminished returns as it relates to the amount of realism a game should have vs the perceivable difference of a gamer. Sure its possible to make a game look "photo realistic" but I doubt gamers would line up to pay the cost of that game.
we don't need more realistic visuals. we need more realistic gameplay. When I bought madden 10 it was the first game I had seen on next gen, and it was absolutely gorgeous. Well the impact beauty wore off after about a week and all I was left with was the game. I paid $60 for a good game not good visuals.Comment

Well of course, we were just answering the question & I'm pretty sure in 10 years, the technology will be easier to produce and cheaper. I DO miss the days when video games didn't cost $60 though lol my collection looks pathetic compared to 10-15 years ago lolyou guys really want these games to cost $100 huh? there is a reason toy story and shrek or whatever look as good as they do. i didn't mean for that to come off as another "game play first" rant. what I'm saying is that increasing the visuals beyond where they are now would require a huge effort. but the return on that effort would go largely unnoticed by most folks. meanwhile the price of that game would skyrocket and you'd be left wondering why? for the most part madden on current gen moves much like it did on last gen, that really doesn't bother me one bit. heck i'm still playing old psone games and having a blastComment

They can't even get the game to play smooth with the graphics they have now, never mind actually get the sidelines and crowd to look nice.
I actually wish they would scale the current graphics down a bit to allow for the game to run smoother. Someone here at OS said that the jittery-ness of Madden has to do with the current systems not being able to render the current graphics fast enough - well to me that means the graphics should take a "backseat" in favor of gameplay!!!Comment

Yeah, I have to agree I dont really know why we are talking about graphics when basic movement is broken.
Its really telling that the graphics for madden improve every year but the actual game play does not.
If they spend any more time on the graphics I cant imagine what they would be ignoring.Comment
