Madden 11: PS3 or PS2?

I would like to get your guys opinion on this. Besides the graphical advantage of the ps3, which has the better gameplay?

I'll leave this open, because I can't remember THIS PARTICULAR question being asked yet.

Lots of people still feel the ps2 gameplay superior , but there's NO online features this year, from what I understand. Also, most of the people on this board are current-gen by now, so you may not get a wide answer.

I have a ps3 and have no qualms about getting Madden, based on the demo...

I would say PS2 but they did not add online this year. I played a game last night PS2 and it was great running was very good. Its alot like last year except the updated rosters and Gus Johnson

Playin online is no issue. Im a franchise person. Thanks for your guys opinion on this. I have a ps3, thats the only reason I was asking ( it does play ps2 and ps1 games).

If you have a ps3 I'd still get Madden for ps3. I loved the ps2 games, but this is a whole different game and the presentation while not great ,IMO, is still better, and the graphic upgrade is obvious...

I got the PS2 version last year, and it played pretty well. Some problems were that they messed up several of the uniforms (Lions had issues, 49ers had issues, basically all the new uniforms), there were the usual playbook issues, but other than that it was very fun.

As soon as the price comes down I'll get Madden 11 for PS2.

I love the ps2 version, being that I'm also a franchise guy (can't remember last time I played online). The franchise mode on ps2 is definitely more in depth than current gen systems, and you could definitely argue that the game goes a little bit smoother, but I like the fact that on ps2 the engine is up to my standards as far as player momentum and physics. I don't have 11 yet, I will wait until the used price is down around 25 or so. The rosters seemed to be messed up on ps2 a little bit last year, but its not that big of a deal, I would definitely say ps2 is still the most solid experience as far as franchise goes, except you don't get Obama lol.

I think I'm goin to stick with the ps2 version. I don't want to spend $60 on a game that i'm only goin to play for 2 weeks because the gameplay isn't up to par.

I might get the ps3 version when the price drops.

you're saying i will not be able to download the patches or updated rosters as they come out with the ps2 game? i'm an offline franchise player but love having accurate rosters to play with and don't have the time to make all the manual changes.

any suggestions since you say i cannot download updated rosters online (besides getting the ps3)?

There is no online for ps2 therefore there are no updates to be downloaded.

In my opinion, along with discussions I've had with long-time PS2 players it's pretty much felt the PS2 plays solid but at this point in it's life cycle is a roster update. And ratings dont matter as much because you wont get the expanded ratings that next gen has. They have also removed some features which people liked and replaced them with head scratchers.

I don't know if I'll get either the PS2 or PS3 version this year, maybe I'll just stick with NCAA. If anyone wants to PM me an update with this years PS2 features I'll update my blog.

If you do buy it then look in my sig for a link to slider settings. My guess is they will work just fine for this years version too (they havent changed years LOL.)

One thing I loved about the PS2 version is the running game. And if I have my facts straight EA took the guy in charge of the PS2 run block programming and installed him to work on next gen. Everyone is now talking about how great the new running game is so for me this could possibly make the PS2 obsolete.

Check out my video which shows how ruthless the run blocking in on the PS2 version. Especially at 1:14 in the video, the RT takes out 3 defenders!
