This is probably the most interesting aspect of madden to me this year. Although I probably will just wait for 2k4, I want to know if playmaker is all its cracked up to be, cuz im considering a purchase. The reviewers say its gods gift to football fans, but I've heard from people that its not that great. What do you guys think? Is it realistic, and more importantly useful?

Its a nice feature especially once you get to master it. I played a online game yesterday and the guy I plyaed kept adjusting his front seven strong side so I used the playmaker to adjust the run weakside and picked up short yardage first downs by doing so. The blocking looks to be the most difficult of the three to use as you still have to get used to actually following the blocks but it seems to be a good feature once you master it. Route playmaker is cool especially if you are playing a blitzer. In my online game my opponent like to bring the house and playing with Donte Stallworth and Joe Horn I used the route playmaker to send Stallworth up field and he beat the corner down the field for a TD. All in all Playmaker is real cool. Something that is REALLY REALLY Great is the PACKAGE subs. This makes the game really realistic being able to have your choice of players were you want them is real good if EA did nothing else right this is a subperb feature. -

I think the before the play stuff is GREAT. I especially love being able to change the direction of a run without the D switching sides like they do if you flip the play on an audible. The Hot Route stuff is really nice too.

I use it all the time. Especially on rollouts. On running plays, the only opportunity to use it is probably on sweeps.Comment
