Shutdown CBs?
Has anyone figured out how to have shutdown CBs? I have Revis, an aged Joe Haden, Antonio Cromartie, and Patrick Peterson. Their ratings suggest they are shutdown CBs, but they always get killed for 60+ yards EACH. Pressing works some of the time, but there are also times when you press and it's instantly broken, making it an automatic TD.

Re: Shutdown CBs?
If Joe Haden is aged, wouldn't that make your whole group of CBs pretty old. What are their SPD, ACC, and MAN COVERAGE Ratings? I'd guess this is your problem.MLB: Pittsburgh Pirates, Boston Red Sox
NFL: Pittsburgh Steelers, Seattle Seahawks
NHL: Pittsburgh Penguins, St. Louis Blues
NBA: Oklahoma City Thunder, Golden State Warriors

Re: Shutdown CBs?
i have joe haden and right now im in season 2 and no teams even throw his way and i have yet to give up any 60 yard gains with him,if passes get thrown his way he either picks it off or else knocks it down. first season he only allowed 8 catches all season long and most those wasent even his coverage.Comment

Re: Shutdown CBs?
Yeah, I played a Jets franchise and quit after a while because it almost felt like cheating on defense with Revis, Cromartie and afte a couple years Wilson as well I had three shutdown corners I could leave in man (no need to bump em) and they'd basically limit anyone but the best receivers in the game to 1-3 catches at most while playing on all-madden with custom sliders.
Sure, they can get burnt by Megatron or Fitzgerald and the like every once in a while but I wouldn't really consider that a problem (okay, I would, but it's a problem of playing against the best receivers in the world, not one the game really needs to adress
)

Re: Shutdown CBs?
So, it's the bump coverage? I started a new franchise anyways. In season 2, and my secondary should be beast. I moved Revis to SS so I don't have problems covering TEs and HBs. Plus, I blitz the SS a lot, and while his BS isn't the best, his speed and my overloading will help him get there. Also, moved Cromartie to FS, so I always have a fast guy covering the slot (I run 46 speed), and he doesn't get burned. Plus, his press isn't that much, and the FS never presses, even in press coverage, so he won't get burned.
I also traded for Vontae Davis in season 1, who is an absolute beast, and I ended up giving up a lot for him, so I had 2 1st rounders. I simulated the season like I always do, so I could start with the 2011 season, since in real life the 2010 season is over.
I ended up having a very bad season, as did the Dolphins, so I had great picks. I picked both Patrick Peterson and Prince Amukamara, who are both immediately shutdown CBs. They both demanded max contracts, and it kinda kills me, but it's worth it. I have 4 shutdown CBs, a shutdown coverage FS, and a shutdown coverage SS.
Yes, not realistic, but I want to try and make the best pass defense ever.Comment

Re: Shutdown CBs?
You moved Revis to Safety, seriously? Sounds like a complete waste of great ratings to me if I'm honest, he's the guy you want to cover your opponents top wideout. There's more than enough of much cheaper talent at S in Madden. You gotta have Hope! (My Minnesota Vikings franchise)

Re: Shutdown CBs?
Amukamara, and Peterson have the potential to be BETTER than Revis in just a few years...and Davis, even though some of his ratings, like PRC and pursuit aren't the best, he jumps better, he's faster, has 99 man coverage, and 99 press. Plus, I play 46 speed all the time, and most of the time I have Revis covering a WR anyways.Comment

Re: Shutdown CBs?
Alright I don't play with NCAA draft classes because the european version can't import them (which sucks...) so I don't know about your rookies, drafting CBs with the "regular" draft classes is a bit of a crapshoot since you can't really scout most of the attributes you care about before drafting them.
No discussion about Davis, though, I always aim for him in a fantasy draft or try to trade for him in the first year of a new franchise if I can afford him, he's a beast at corner. You gotta have Hope! (My Minnesota Vikings franchise)

Re: Shutdown CBs?
According to Wikipedia Nnamdi Asomugha allowed just 10 reception, got thrown at 27 times, and allowed 0 TDs in this season. In madden he normaly allows 1 or 2 TDs per game if I play on anything other than rookie.Comment
