August 30 Will Be the New Release Date for Madden This Year and Beyond

I'm just hoping it leaves more time for debugging , and getting patches and tuners together. I like back in the day when madden was released closer to the season. This isn't new they used to release it in late August.

Unfortunately it won't change anything in that regards because the debug/patch time will probably not changed.

Well I'm sure they wouldn't have it sitting ready to ship for two weeks. The game usually goes gold a month before release, which gives them a little extra time if they choose to work on something minor.

Yeah, they will extend the dev time, not the debug time with the extra time. And remember they only actually get extra time with it this year (aug 13, 2010 to aug 30, 2011), because starting next year the dev cycle will be the same (aug 30, 2011 to aug 30, 2012)...

Right. I get that M12 will be Aug 30. But the title implies that all future Maddens will release on Aug 30. Which would be odd IMO because release days usually don't happen on a Saturday.

Similarly, they said Madden was always released on the 13th in recent years which is also inaccurate. It was the second Tuesday of August, except the 20th anniversary edition which came out on a Friday.
