    Rookie Player Traits

    Hey guys,

I thought I'd start this thread up to start listing upcoming rookies traits since it seems like EA is going to just be randomly assigning them to imported rookies. Now this would be VERY helpful to guys like me who don't really watch college, and aren't familiar with college players and their tendencies. I think it would be best to list the player's name, their position, their academic standing (Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, Senior) and then their appropriate traits in order as they're seen here (http://www.operationsports.com/featu...e-cheat-sheet/) so that everyone is on the same page for looking at the information.

I'd like to try to keep this to major players (e.g.: players likely to be taken in the first half of the draft: rounds 1-3). Also, I'd like to try to keep the debating down to a minimum (e.g.: people saying that Andrew Luck will be taken in the top 10 vs. the top 5, etc.). If someone doesn't quite believe a player's traits are correct, debate is welcome, but keep in mind that people will be viewing this thread for the purpose of changing imported rookie's traits/tendencies, not debating (directly).

Okay guys, have at it and have fun! It'll help other non-college FB guys out a lot! (Sorry for sounding bossy or anything, I just want this to turn into something really good for us guys who like realism but are short on some knowledge)

(EDIT: Keeping it to real players is kind of given, but should still be stated.)

Here's a link to a google doc spreadsheet listing all players discussed so far:

    Re: Rookie Player Traits

This is a good idea. It might be easier to just do juniors and seniors. It's kinda hard to tell since theres still a season to go but i'll try some arkansas players

    Greg Childs (WR #85) 6'3, 220

Fights for extra yards- No (he kinda does but most WRs are no)
Covers the ball- Brace for all hits
    Makes sideline catches- Yes
    drops open passes- No
    Clutch- No
    1* consistency
    High Motor- Yes

    Knile Davis (RB #7) 6'0, 230

    Fights for extra yards- Yes
    Brace against medium hitters
    Makes sideline catches- no
    drops open passes- yes
    clutch- no
    obviously consistency is 1*
    High Motor- No

I could do some more SEC players if no one else wants to...i would put some more on there but they arent a lock for the first 3 rounds

Good point. Having current Sophomores and Freshmen come in with randomized player traits and tendencies would be just as fitting since they haven't been around long enough to establish such ideas.

Might as well get the big one out of the way:

        Andrew Luck
        Stanford
        6'4" / 235
        Tucks and Runs: Sometimes
        Senses Pressure: Ideal
        Forces Passes: Ideal
        Throws Ball Away: No
        Throws Tight Spiral: Yes
        Clutch: No
        Consistency: 1

I feel like it may be too good, but he is being called "The best QB prospect ever" by some.

Thanks guys. Currently, I'm keeping track of all of these guys in a MS Excel Spreadsheet. Periodically I'll upload it to the first post as more and more players are available.

              Drops Open Passes: No
Clutch: No (Tempted to put yes, but I agree with someone else who said no rook should have the clutch trait. This should be earned in the NFL.)
Consistency: 1 star (again because all rooks should start this way)
              Confidence: 3 stars
              High Motor: Yes

                Sideline Catches?

I agree with what you have kind of standardized though: no rookie should be clutch in the NFL or have a Consistency rating more than 1 (maybe 2 if they're truly elite in College).

Do we know exactly what "Throws the ball away" means? Does that mean the Qb wil just throw it away at the site of pressure or does it mean getting rid of the ball instead of taking a sack?

He throws the ball away instead of taking a sack.
When rookie Randall Cobb was told by this U.S. Marine that he was a big fan of the wide receiver, Cobb said, “I think I’m a bigger fan of yours.”

I've got to agree here. I think players should come in with a consistency of 2 only if they've proved over and over and over in college that they can pull out the W against elite teams. I say this because of the huge variation in talent at the college level vs. the NFL (relatively speaking).
