Problem with Free Agents

I can't seem to find anything with anybody else having this problem so I don't know what's wrong.

During the season of a franchise mode, if I go to sign a free agent to fill my roster gaps or weaknesses there are no contract negotiations. Not only do the players not ask for a fair contract, but they are all basically asking for about 750k.

I mean it's convenient to be able to sign these 80-90 OVR veterans for virtually nothing but I'd prefer accuracy. I was just wondering if anyone else had this problem and if it was a setting or something?

You aren't doing anything wrong. There's no way to negotiate after the season starts...you just press A and they are yours for whatever amount they want.

Well i guess I'll be taking these 3 85+ players for a total of about $2M.

During this period, these are considered to be players that don't have a lot of interest. Since they weren't signed in the off-season, it's assumed that these guys will just play for little money. Think of it as an invite to training camp (but the system HAS to sign them to contracts to recognize they're on the roster). If they make the squad, you can renegotiate their contract to make it fair. Or, you could take advantage and keep their contract that low. If they have a good season, they'll probably be asking for a big contract and someone will likely give it to them.
