Is WR, DB, Ball Interaction a priority for next year?

To me this part of the gameplay needs major attention. Some times a Db will jam/bump a receiver and the receiver would not even react to it, when they run down field they dont touch each other at all, and my biggest gripe is that receivers dont go after the ball aggresively. When I throw a deep ball which Qb's seem to throw them short quite often in this game the receiver goes into a weak animation, hoping the ball will fall in there hand instead on turning around and going for the ball. How hard is it to get wr+db=go for ball? Anybody know if the Madden team mentioned anything about fixing this next season.

I sure hope it is, because it is definitely the game's biggest weakness on the field. Too many times have I seen DBs burnt because they go into the over the shoulder animation or hip catch animation. It's getting really frustrating playing defense, setting them up in the right spots, and having that happen.

Yea this is the biggest gameplay issue. Wrs and DBS need to go for the ball.

I really hope they improve this next year as well. It seems like having a tall WR with awesome jumping doesn't mean anything this year. The part that this aggravates me the most is in the red zone. Say I want to throw up a pass to have my tall athletic WR fight for a ball on a small CB. The matchup doesn't even matter, when in the NFL it really does.

They gotta give WRs the opportunity to Jump up and fight to get the ball in Deep Ball Situations

In the red zone you can run fade routes and receivers seem to go for the ball then. But fade routes seem to be the only time receivers go for the ball.

i think NCAA has got it right WR can catch the ball in stride, turn and catch go down low and catch the ball. on madden the passing game seems limited. you cant throw a wr open like in NCAA. Timing routes also are off when you throw a out route , its before the WR comes out of the break even the the catch animation is behind the WR

My DBs don't catch ANYTHING, but the CPU's DBs catch at least 75% of the passes that hit their hands. Kinda BS.

They do need to fix this, but the question is how can they with the current code and physics engine?

Their physics/animation engine seems like it was built to work with canned animations on a large scale that dealt with all football interactions. However the truth is that elements of hand fighting and leverage and spacing are what keeps both the line play and the DB/WR interaction back.

They would need to figure out a way to have both the DB and the WR be able to aggressively go after the ball. That was the main issue with rocket catching. The cpu DBs woul never go after the ball at its highest point, they would always wait for it and get jumped over.

Also they need to ad more diving and falling catches for WR so that they can hike up the chance for a pass to be dropped after contact. If you think about it, when you watch a game 70% of WR catches are made with almost zero attempt to run after the catch, especially on deep and intermediate routes over the middle. The reciever catches the ball while also bracing for the hit to protect himself.

Adding this would help make the game more realistic cause now you can raise the chances of a ball being jammed free after a rocket catch, and you can stop those unrealistic instances where a slant or a drag turns into a long TD becuase a DB went afte the ball and mised the tackle.

I think that if you switch to user control your WR or DB there should be a button to jump for the ball. For WRs you can either hold the triangle (PS3) button for a possessive catch or tap triangle for a spectacular catch which but that doesn't mean a jumping catch. I dont want the cheating strafe catch to come back from madden past but being able to jump on command would be nice for WR and DBs both. Too many times I want to swat a ball and I need my DB to jump and he does the stupid 1 handed backward swat even though the ball is up over his head, leaving the WR wide open.

I definitely agree with more falling/diving catches. This could work in tandem with lead pass as so the QB could throw the ball far enough away from the receiver so that the DB can't get it and only the receiver can get it with a dive. The only dive catch I see is when firing in to the endzone.

I think my receivers were scared of the DB's last night. I tried to throw to an open receiver sitting on a curl route, I mean the guy was looking straight at me, but instead of catching the ball he just started running towards me and the DB (who was about 8-10 yards behind the reciever) came up to make the interception.

The same thing happened 3 times with the curl route, but only got intercepted once. Am I crazy? It would have been an easy catch for the first down, but instead of even trying for the catch, he just sprints back to towards the QB.

Guess it's back to slant routes and go routes for me lol.
