Honestly, i'm wondering why I even bother using I-formation because 80% of the time it's a complete waste of a player on the field. Is this just a playbook issue or are all FBs as dumb as a bag of rocks?

Fullback Blocking
I don't understand why FBs are consistently just plain stupid. I play with the Texans mostly, they have Lawrence Vickers who is rated ~90 overall. On stretch plays he regularly just runs towards the sideline without even thinking about trying block anyone. On inside zones or Iso plays he regularly allows blitzing MLBs to run right past him to hit the RB in the backfield.

Re: Fullback Blocking
fullbacks are definitely hit/miss on this game. They run directly pass defenders or whiff blocks....but TE's are worse IMO.I don't understand why FBs are consistently just plain stupid. Re: Fullback Blocking
not sure if this is dealing with the fullback or not, but today i ran the most perfectly executed screen play i ever ran. All the DL went for my QB and my HB caught it with 3 guys infront to block 1 CB, and i had a for sure td.
But as it turns out, my blockers decide to turn around and do nothing and i get tackled for a 7 yard gain. I feel like downfield blocking in general is weak part of the gameNFL - Minnesota Vikings

Re: Fullback Blocking
I actually only play online. I played against the Titans, gave up 4 tackles for losses from LBs due to the FB spazzing out. I only gained 30 yards on 9 carries. I usually run the ball no less than 20 times but I just got tired of getting backfield.Comment

Re: Fullback Blocking
Far from true, I had my receivers, OL, block great down field for me. What I have an issue with is the lack of time to execute screen passes vs the blitz. I've noticed the OL don't chip and release like they used to. They just run away to block, meanwhile my HB is still in the "slip" portion of the animation.not sure if this is dealing with the fullback or not, but today i ran the most perfectly executed screen play i ever ran. Re: Fullback Blocking
decided to break out the camera. this is what happens when you blitz an inside zone most of the time, the FB just stands there.

Re: Fullback Blocking
As you can see all you have to do to break this play is send one LB. If the FB picks up that 1 LB you have Arian Foster in the open field with the TE ready to break off and block the safety, if not a touchdown it's definitely going to be a solid gain. Unfortunately the FB is forced to clear a path to the RB for an easy TFL.

This was a problem with Madden 11. In fact it's been a problem in all the new Maddens I've played, but iirc Madden 11 introduced locomotion, which is fine for skill positions, but for the big uglies and blocking in general it causes major problems (e.g. you'll see pulling oline run to block one defender, then try to switch to block a second one, but because he loses momentum he basically stops in his tracks, and doesn't block either one.

Re: Fullback Blocking
I don't get it. Last night Spencer Larsen was blocking very intelligently, and I was making some good tough runs with Moreno. Tonight Larsen looked like he was wearing a blind fold, whiffing on blocks left and right. I don't understand it.Comment

Re: Fullback Blocking
Well you can't expect perfect play every game. The game has the Dynamic performance, where some games players play great other games they make mistakes. That happens in real life.
I do agree that the fullback position good use a lil work but not too much. Most of the blocks I get with a full back is the 1/2 second attempt block on a LB, where the LB just swims away and most of the time i'm prolly tackled. The problem with fullback in this game is that in real life most blocks they make are low which take out the legs of the defender or at least really slow them down. But on Madden the FB stands up and has to block like an O-Lineman.
As for pulling guards it's very hit and miss, and more often miss. They will pull fine and they get ******** and can't make a decision on which direction to go or who to block and when they do block they usually just push the defender into me. Rarely will I get a perfect block from a pulling guard and when I do it's a nice play.Comment
