no psychic DBs or leaping LBs?
I got to play Madden 12 a few times at my friend's room, and didn't have a problem with psychic DBs or leaping LBs (outside of him user intercepting passes). This was great since they have been annoying the HECK out of me lately, mostly in Heisman, and was wondering if I just had a small sample size I got on Madden 12, or is it really a minimal problem on Madden?Tags: None -

If I can finish a game where the cpu doesn't throw 3 or more picks, I'll consider that a victory.Comment

The LB's aren't perfect but they're much better than NCAA 12. The DB play is in another stratosphere compared to NCAA, in a good way.
No mirroring of routes. no insane athleticism, and the battle for the football is better than NCAA though it's still pretty bad. You don't get the constant problem of DB's trying to make a basket catch on any pass with some air under it like in NCAA (basically the DB has no awareness of if a WR (or any other player) is anywhere near the ball in NCAA).
Basically the passing game is the biggest reason why I bailed on NCAA and am happy with Madden."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

Indeed, I see inhuman feats of athleticism out of LBs almost every game. It's really my biggest complaint with the game at this point. The Last of Us is the Citizen Kane of video-games. It is better than every game that has ever come before it, and is the new benchmark for all games to follow. It is nothing short of a work of art.Comment

Re: no psychic DBs or leaping LBs?
I have yet to see psychic DB's in Madden 12 and it's immediately noticeable when you see passes fall into tighter/smaller windows. The problem, however, tends to be that these passes ALWAYS fit into these small windows unless you have tweaked sliders extensively.
The jumping LB's are still there, but I think part of that blame falls upon the trajectory of passes. It's still better than NCAA, but needs to be improved further. You just don't see LB's consistently reacting to and knocking down intermediate passes in real life because it would require insane reaction time and quick twitch athleticism.
If they could lower the frequency of the LB's jumping into passing lanes, but counter that by increasing the number of pass defense animations by DB's then I think the passing game would be the best I've ever experienced in a video game. There just aren't enough attempts by DB's to come over the WR's shoulder and break a pass up, come across the outside arm and deflect the pass, or attempt to rake the arms or strip the ball from the WR's hands once caught.
Another pet peeve of mine in the passing game is that there just isn't nearly enough physicality in the WR/DB animations during route running. Lockdown corners should be all over average WR's and they shouldn't even be able to get deep into their routes without going off course.Comment

Re: no psychic DBs or leaping LBs?
I'm not seeing any psyhic DBs to the point where I have the CPUs pass reaction on 100 with the CPUs INTs on 75(All-Madden sliders) and I can make every throw on the game without having to worry about the DB running the route with the WR. You'll occasionally get the 60 inch Vertical leaping LBs but they definitely toned it down from the Demo.. The game is playing great IMO.Comment

Have yet to see this at all. My linebackers seem content and don't act like superman.Comment

Re: no psychic DBs or leaping LBs?
I nearly chucked my controller on multiple occasions during the first couple of nights because of linebackers and DBs doing their B.S. millisecond reaction crap. I watch NFL games and I see QBs make throws, and all I can think is "that'd be a pick, that'd be a pick, and that, and that...."Comment
