    Not Understanding Bull Rush

Why is it that every time I attempt to bull rush (down on the right thumbstick) I get pushed down into the ground by the offensive lineman?

Can someone please explain to me how to use this move!

I have that happen a few times, and other times it works to perfection. I usually use it with a DT if I know I have a blitzing LB that can shoot through.

I get the same results on All Madden get pushed down every time I try to bull rush even with CPU pass blocking set to zero. On All Pro I get pass the O-Line just about every time.

Yeah this happens a bunch to me also.
The only time I can get a decent pass rush is if the guy im going against is terrible.

Unfortunately the more I play the more I feel that the DLine play is complete randomness. I use the Bucs and these guys from ALL positions up and down the Dline get in alot - (Which as of now is not consistent with their real life selves!)
On Defense I use the DLine almost exclusively and
I have some success with user-ing (albeit random success) but
I just dont have a definitive answer as to what move works and why and when you can expect it to work - whether its power moves or finesse moves.

For some reason, EA's definition of bull rush is "fall flat on your face".

same but if you hit up on the right stick 1/2 the time you run right over the oline

I've been experiencing this as well!

I stopped playing on All Madden because of the frustration of always being pushed into the ground.

But on All Pro it's almost too easy to get past O-Linemen, and I usually blow out the CPU because of the reduced difficulty level.

And yet, even on All Pro, I can't seem to get Bull Rush to work, and only use Left/Right on the thumbstick to get by linemen.

are you using players that utilize the bull rush move(ex. cullen jenkins from the eagles)? this should be listed in player traits. if they have this as one of their moves, it should be more successful.

on running plays, the defender will push the lineman onto their backs. the defender should still be able to react to the running-back. the reaction may or may not be fast enough to make the tackle. in the case of jenkins, he was able to maintain his balance and pursue the running-back.

on passing plays, the defender should be able to shove the lineman back and go around him. just keep repeating the technique(down on right stick) until you get past the lineman.

i don't play as defensive linemen often, but the players seem to play to their strengths(traits). wait until you are engaged with the offensive lineman before making your move.

Yea, I use the guys (such as Jenkins) with bull rush when trying to execute the move...

What I highlighted in bold is something I don't quite understand either. I've read that you have to try executing the move right before engagement, and also waiting until you are engaged to execute it.

Problem is, I've tried both and Bull Rush never seems to work for me. I've only had success with Left/Right moves (even using power DTs such as Jenkins).

                      Re: Not Understanding Bull Rush

I've noticed that when I end up on my face after using this move its because I didn't use this move at the most opportune time.

If you push down too early you'll get planted. Using this more too early is the most likely culprit. If you push down as soon as the ball is snapped you're going to face plant no doubt. I get caught doing this all the time because I'm trying to get a jump on the o-line.

Wait until you get locked up (or a split second before) with an O-lineman to use this move. Its also important to know who you're matching up with. A highly rated o-lineman is much more effective at using this move against you. If you come in and engage say a running back for example your success rate will be significantly higher.

with suction being somewhat toned down(not completely gone), it seems as if now you have to wait to be engaged by the player for the move to be successful.

traits, ratings, and DPP should all play a part in how successful the move will be.

                          Re: Not Understanding Bull Rush

The whole line play still needs to be reworked. I'm so tired of Vince Wilfolk dominating the passing game, he's a run stopper and doesn't rush the passer often. NT's on this game are impossible to stop in the passing game.

As far as user control I use Jared Allen and Justin Tuck. On All Madden the only time I can get pressure is when I get them lined up over a guard, if I go at the LT I never get around, and end up on the ground or 10 yards behind the QB. The RT sometimes I'm able to get passed him with Tuck but maybe only 1 or 2 times a game.

Winner! You nailed it. Most do it too early and anyone can be pushed down if they are lunging at air.

Also, the Bull Rush should work only a handful of times per game, even for great players. Thats real life.

I use Jared Allen bull rush with some success. Once play hike I lock up with OL as quick as possible let go of the LS (L3) for a sec. I go left or right with LS (L3) with bull rush at same time jared allen head slap lol. But I play LB mostly take away TE. let down 4 do work
