    Verdict on Madden 12

I have to say I"ve enjoyed this game. I've got gripes...and as I predicted I couldn't even tell you what hot streak feature is doing...I notice no difference from week to week other than expected ups and downs. Franchise mode doesn't seem much better to me. The free agent period added a time limit but the logic seems no different. The scouting is not as good as old gen, where you could really work out the players, not just read a report of their workout that you have to unlock.

BUT....with my sliders in place I get great games. The game looks good, plays well and as I"ve gotten used to and play better O and D (less picks and less getting shredded by the opposing QB...IdK....I just got better and it's more fun now).

Currently doing a Long Island Sharks chise...they are a run oriented team (forgot what they call that.....not air it out obviously..not strong offense....it will come to me)....87 team ovr. Went 14-2...which surprised me a bit but then their ovr is higher than most teams right now. I give kudos to EA for the improved game play, graphics etc. NOw let's REALLY get into franchise mode and give us everything old gen had....that's make me orgasmic.

I can't overlook the appearance issues with draft class players....and that franchise randomly deletes players from the game altogether after a certain point.

really kills the franchise experience for me, which is the ONLY reason I buy madden.

I really enjoy playing this game, and what most people complain about I just overlook. Madden is probably my most played game of all time and on the PS3.

If I didn't even go on these forums, I wouldn't even know about all these "issues".

you wouldnt notice a LB at 15 yards knocking down a 40 yard pass if you didnt go to the forums?

Yes I notice that a lot, but there are a lot more that I never have a problem with.

Imo, the game is ok but boring and doesnt do a good enough job of representing NFL football to keep my attention.

the game has way too many animations that ruin gameplay and player movement is just off imo.

Here it is January and most of us are still looking for answers, trying to tweak ratings, priorities, coaching schemes, etc, etc, anything that might improve this game, lol!

I'm still playing it and trying to force myself to enjoy it because well, you know....

            I give it a 4 out of 10...

              ^^

Couldn't agree with you more, my biggest issue is the horrible play calling. No matter what your sliders are you can always find about 3 offensive and 3 defensive plays that you could call all game and come up with a win. I learned my lesson and next year I'll rent the game before I make the mistake of buying it.

I'm sorry but I couldn't agree any less with this. I really don't understand how you can really think that, given what a HUGE impact it has for skill position players whether they are hot or cold. Honestly, give me my own franchise team and let me play with my young QB and I'm sure I could tell you after a quarter whether my QB is hot or cold without ever pausing the game to check.
You gotta have Hope! (My Minnesota Vikings franchise)

After an incredible 2012 season ends with a Super Bowl win, Hope Turner and her Vikings are trying to prove that their performance was more than just a one-shot.

I have a hard time telling regular from hot but regular to cold is a huge difference. I was playing my franchise with Locker as my QB and when he gets cold forget about trying to throw the ball. He was missing 10 yard outs by 15 yards

I like playing franchise mode but the interface is just awful. I thought, with all the hype, they were going to make a serious leap forward this year. It's more or less the same as last year with a few new annoyances.

While I love playing franchise mode, I think that whole interface needs a complete makeover.

                      Re: Verdict on Madden 12

Yeah the UI in this game in general is bad (too slow, too awkward, takes longer to save a 32-team franchise than a 1 team franchise for some reason - file sizes are the same), and the loading time just...ugh. Why would it take so long to load what amounts to a chart or why does the player editor take so long to load/unload? My PC can load a Shogun 2 battle faster than Madden can load its player editor.

I like what was added to franchise mode. I hope they expand on it and flesh it out where needed and tweak where needed (UDFA cut logic, for example).

As far as the LBs jumping up to knock down 40 yd passes - I don't see that. Even my 99/A LB doesn't do that, and he can do just about everything, heh

I agree with TheDelta. DPP and hot/cold is huge, imo. Roles are what seem to do too little, imo, especially roles like Franchise QB or Playoff Performer. And what does "1st round pick" actually do? Or Future Star?

I'd give Madden a 7, but it has upside. Question is, will they tap it and refine it, or scrap it and build another "7" from the ground up like they seem to want to do...

QB of the Future and Future Star don't affect the performance at all from what I gathered, they're basically roles that "protect" a player in franchise mode, if the CPU has a player with such a role on its roster it will not draft new players at his position or bury him below free agents on the depth chart.

                          Re: Verdict on Madden 12

EA finally made a Madden this gen that I am still playing after December.

Madden 10 and 11 lost me after November.

Franchise made a big improvement and like KB I hope they flesh out and build upon what they already have. I am confident Looman is implementing even more HC09 elements into 13.

The camp that has cryed about gameplay since Madden 2001....will keep crying.

But the Madden camp...those of us who have loved and played this game for over 20 years should be excited about Madden 13. We already know they are overhauling the commentary/color system which is huge.

To me that aspect of the game alone would make Madden 12 a 9/10. It is so bad and it really drags down an otherwise strong effort. The new camera angles are superb, the franchise mode so much stronger. They must come through on the audio presentation and yes absolutely overhaul the franchise hub and add a high quality weekly wrap up show to truly immerse the player into feeling like they are playing in the NFL.

I am very excited for Madden 13.

However since I am enjoying 12 and getting plenty of replay value out if it. I will surely rent Madden 13 to see if it is worth the upgrade this time around. If those items I mentioned are fleshed out and implemented I am in.

                            Re: Verdict on Madden 12

                            I'd give it about a 7.5...

I find M12 to be a relatively enjoyable football game. The gameplay is solid. The presentation, while it still doesn't have as much life as 2K5 IMO, does add a layer of authenticity to the game and helps to keep the game fresh.

Franchise mode is the best it's been on this generation -- which I know is not saying much. But I like how scouting ties into the draft/preseason as ratings aren't revealed right off the bat.

It has taken me a while to notice DPP, but I do now. I just never really cared to press pause to see if my QB was on a cold streak. Well, I did recently w/ Romo and it made sense that he was so off in a game I was playing. So as I begin to look for DPP more and how it affects gameplay, I think I'll appreciate it more.

That said, EA/Tiburon has done a poor job of supporting this game (as they have w/ some of their other games recently apparently). Even if they're cooking something up for future games, they still need to be held accountable for the lack of communication. As a consumer, I think it's whack (to be nice) that there are a myriad of issues that are widespread, yet they don't acknowledge them. The QB completion percentage certainly comes to mind, but hell that pop noise on the PS3 is very annoying as well. The disappearing act that EA has pulled fuels the perception that they just don't care, which I know not to be the case.
