    2012 NFL Draft CAPS

There are a good 5-6 Rookie CAPS Threads scattered around these Forums but none of them seem to be ongoing. Here I am going to make CAPs on the top players entered in the NFL Draft. I will take some requests and appreciate feedback on my CAPs. I will just post ratings. If you are interested in a players traits, equipment, or info. Ask and I will post them.

Notes: I tried to make him a "Balanced QB" instead of a scrambler, but since that trait depends on the speed rating, I wasn't going to sacrifice his speed in order to make him "Balanced"

RG3 is going to have the same problem Vick has. He is easily injured at 6'2", and he runs out of the pocket where he will get decked. His injury rating needs to be a little bit lower so that he isn't overpowered.

Honestly the Luck physical ratings seem off - one example his speed is just too low. This is a guy that is clearly and significantly faster than Aaron Rodgers (and almost the same speed as Cam). Don't give him a 76 speed. Cam is 85 and Rodgers is 79 - Luck is probably somewhere in the middle.

You can also simply look at the two guys (Luck and RGII) and see that Luck has the bigger and more solid frame - giving RGIII more strength seems odd and unlikely.

Luck's physical ratings really should only be slightly lower than RGIII's - there is a reason Luck got so much hype and the combine showed that.

RGIII and Luck are also two of the most hyped rookies in history (the most?) and EA has already all but said 84/85 will be too low for them but that is another issue. OVR doesn't really matter too much, but you might as well gauge it like EA said they will.

These are just a few nitpicks, but they are significant if you want to be as accurate as possible imho.

These ratings are too high for someone who has never played a down in the NFL. I suggest you look in the topic about overrating rookies and read that article. Great stuff, they look at the top 2 picks from the last 10 years and how they did as rookies.

While I think that all 3 guys you have so far will have great careers and be great players for teams to build around, it probably won't happen from day 1.

Imo the highest rated rookie should be 80. And few should be at "80".. maybe only one player.. Like Luck I would rate 80, and RG3 around 77..78.. after the top 5 I think the tier of top rated players should go down. Around 75 overall and lower after top 10. A starter in the NFL should be around 70-75 overall in madden, and this is my own opinion. After the first round I think players could start going in the 60s unless someone of course falls and the we think they should be rated higher..

imo Luck:80 RG3:77 somewhere around there.. blackman could be 79. I just think the madden devolepers should think about putting a rookie "cap" for player rattings. It would be A OK if they put it at 80 and I would be happier if they lowered it.. we'll just have to see haha.

While I completely agree with you that Madden rookies should not be above 80, it's not like that unfortunately. I made this ratings thinking about how they will be rated next year and how they fit into the game right now. Unfortunately, Madden's ratings are poorly done.
