Right. As I said, EA's brass' sole motivation is money. It's not about community, or quality products, or anything else. It's about bottom line. That doesn't mean there aren't people at EA who care. There are many who do, but they get trumped by those who sign the checks. And unless Madden is going to make EA solid cash on PC, then EA won't do it.

Exactly. It's why they stopped the PC version. Sales numbers and development costs.

I.e $$$

Never mind the sales were crap because they crapped on the platform to begin with. PS2 version was progressing, PC version was not, at least not nearly as quickly.

That's because the PC version ended being a port of the previous years PS2 version if I remember correctly. Still thought the PC version was far superior because of the GODS at Football-Freaks.

Oh yeah, modding is where it's at for sure.

Also liked the text log you got after a game. You could save them, review 'em etc. Like scouting reports.

They knew they were being outdone by people that could modify they game and make it light years better. These current generation games are do behind what the PC versions were at.

Re: Bring Madden back to PC

A lot of it comes back to the exclusive deal. Had 2K and EA been competing for NFL gamer dollars, the PC probably would have been covered still - EA may not have been keen to drop it as a platform and give up any ground, while 2K have already shown they'll at least release on PC even without competition for a product. Both those factors mean PC is probably still got at least one version, possibly both.

That, and the NFL could have easily required Madden be released on PC as part of the exclusive deal. It's chump change for EA.

The problem isn't PC can't be profitable, even for a console focused franchise like Madden. The problem is the $x amount of dollars you spend making it to get a $x * y profit is not as attractive compared to investing those $x into a platform that has a better return. That, or invest that $x into bringing in "efficiency consultants" to cut jobs and maximize profits that way. This *is* EA we're talking here.
