    First Roster Update Dilemma

I'm beginning to grow a little confused and even a little worried about how the first roster update(s) will be handled when the game drops.

Rosters cut down to 75 players on August 28th which is also the day that Madden officially drops. Less than a week later, rosters cut down to 53 on September 2nd.

Ideally, I'd like to see separate roster updates for both so it still leaves open the option to start a CCM with a full updated 75 man roster and make our own cuts throughout preseason.

Another thing that worries me is how situations like MJD and injured players could be handled. In the past, injured players have always been buried on the depth chart but it was never really an issue. Without the ability to take our own rosters into CCM, will the Jaguars be stuck with MJD at fourth string RB for their entire first season? Will the Eagles start their first season with Foles at QB and a healthy Vick at 3rd string?

How would you guys like to see the initial roster updates handled?

    Re: First Roster Update Dilemma

I would hope it only buries them if they're expected to be out for a good length of time. Personally, I don't believe in playing with pre-existing injuries so I'd rather noone be buried because of their health or contract status (unless it's a career threatening injury).

Pretty sure that on M12 when you started a franchise, the cpu would re-order based on overall. So Manning would wind up being the Colts starting QB even though he was buried on the depth chart at the start.

I would guess it would work the same way in M13.

And I don't like the pre-existing injuries either. I always turned them off.

        For example, Jahvid Best?

I've never been a fan of the pre-existing injuries either. When I start my franchise, or CCM now, it basically becomes it's own thing and I start it as if it was before camp. I'm really hoping the first roster update isn't for the final 53 because it would pretty much destroy making cuts in the first season. I'd like to shape my own roster.

So, most likely Ryan Tannehill, Jake Locker, Blain Gabbert, and Russel Wilson (if he ends up starter) won't start in someones CC. This is assuming you don't control one of those teams obviously. I'm sure this will really kill peoples immersion you like realism and such.

                  Re: First Roster Update Dilemma

I don't see why people think you can't make any changes to rosters. One of the Gamechangers showed at the community day that you can switch coaches as long as they aren't created ones. So if you're worried about MJD start the CC with the Jags coach, switch the depth chart, then retire and go to whoever you want to play as. That's what I planned to do with my rosters to get them correct prior to the first update.

by the way, when did the Roster update come last year?
Any word on when we can expect it this time?

either way i have messaged the EA boards and the player progression thread informing them that CB #26 Tim Jennings needs long dreads as does CB #33 Charles "peanut" Tillman ...both need long dreads what are the chances they put them in?? i have messaged the EA forum for players and teams twice since E3 informing them ...they better fix it!...lets hope they stay on top of player appearances and equipment as well , especially with NO-EDITING ALLOWED in CCM

Wouldn't the CPU just change the depth chart again after you retire?

I'm not exactly sure but I think the first roster update was the opening day, final 53 update. I'm really hoping that it isn't the same case this year. I'd like to see a day one or day two update that accounts for the August 28th cutdown to 75 players. That way I can start my CCM with a full roster and make my own decisions on who makes the team.

I'll be keeping a close eye on this. I haven't been too devastated by the exclusion of player editing but it will get a bit annoying if they're not on top of equipment changes and such considering there is no way to correct it.
