Problem pitching the ball

So I know that LB on xbox is how you lateral or pitch the ball backwards, but when i do it it doesnt always work. most of the time my guy pump fakes and doesnt actually lateral. he stick the ball out and then keeps it... thats not what i want.

I understand you have to aim with the right stick which i always do. and still it doesnt work. i end up pressing LB like 5 times and aiming and most of the time it doesnt work. it has worked for me like 1/5 which isnt good. I want to be able to pitch the ball at the end of games instead of having to throw deep when your down 4 and need a touchdown.

anyone have an solutions on how to get the player to pitch the ball consistently?

I bet you it is probably set up something like the wr are on receptions. Meaning that unless their letter is lit they arent really ready for the pass. I am guessing it may be the same way only its some invisible indicator probably on the ball carrier as to whether he is ready to pitch it in that situation.

All just guessing though, sorry
