CCM Question re: EA Official Downloaded Roster Update not allowed?

Alright, No, this is not a thread about roster editing for CCM. I know you cant do that, I'm fine with that.

However, I was under the impression, and I'm pretty sure EA stated that you could use their roster updates in CCM. So, there's a roster update available in the season ticket version that is from Aug 24 I believe. So I've downloaded it, saved it, and loaded it up as the current roster, then went and started a new Offline CCM - Coach mode... and guess what? the new roster update is not there, it is still using the original rosters, and i can't find a way to make it use the update. Nothing has been modified in the copy I saved.

Anybody know how to use the newest roster from EA to start a new CCM, or did plans change and we are not allowed to do that now?

Ccm has its own roster update. The even updated it during the trial. You just start the mode and at some point during the setup you will b prompted to use or update ccm rosters.

Im guessing that means online only then? I havent tried to create an online one since I play offline only. So is this another instance, and reason why EA says to play even a single player franchise, online instead of offline? If so... that's just ridiculous. Especially if the whole point of CCM was to have offline, and online the same. Clearly that's not the case. I guess I'll pick up the retail on my lunch break and bring it home to try it and see if there's a difference between offline, and online. If so, it's just another thing with CCM that needs a patch I guess. Hopefully that gets fixed in the Sept 11 patch. Really enjoy the mode, but really frustrating you can't apparently play offline with the updated EA rosters.

I tried to create multiple offline CCM's last night, after downloading the newest roster from the Gridiron tab from the main menu, it always defaults to the default rosters in an offline CCM. No prompt to get a new roster, no option anywhere that I've see. Not in the initial options before you start CCM, and then even before you advance into the season I haven't seen a roster update option anywhere. Again, I'm talking an offline CCM here.

Where did you see the option to update the roster when starting a CCM??

I don't know how I triggered it, but I got a message saying that my career roster was out of date, then it downloaded a new one. Maybe if you delete the career roster it will prompt for a new one?

Was it in an online, or offline CCM that you got prompted to updated the CCM roster?

I deleted my roster files from the file management screen, then went back to gridiron from the main menu to try and update rosters again, and it said I already have the recent up to date roster. So I saved it again, started a new offline CCM, and nothing but the old rosters again.

I didn't even have to go into CCM, if I recall correctly. Try restarting your system.

I'll have to delete everything from the season ticket release when I get home now and try starting all over with the retail.

Yeah, when the game initially starts up it checked the roster file and something about connected careers roster data and prompted me to download them. It asks if you want to save your current and I believe my default roster is not ROSTER-custom.

One other way to see this is to select a different storage location when the console starts (thumb drive or cloud storage)

Strange, I took the retail copy home at lunch today, started up an offline CCM, its the default rosters. No prompt to update whatsoever.

Jumped back in and created an online CCM, it didn't prompt me to download anything, but the CCM started with the roster update automatically, so I'm assuming it downloaded it right away.

So... I guess the question still remains... is it just not working properly for me? Or for Offline CCM files as a whole???

Ok, so its possible, but now I'm really confused. I do that, and I dont get the prompt to use the downloaded roster update. Where did you download the update for CCM within the game?

What I did, was go to the Gridiron tab, and I clicked update nfl rosters. It downloaded a roster which it automatically saved as ROSTER-Custom.

I then go to CCM, and select a new offline CCM just like you did, I hit play offline, it says loading data, then lets me select player, or coach, and i pick my coach, and the options screen comes up, then Im in CCM, but with the default rosters. Every single time.

It shouldnt be this difficult. There's got to be something I'm missing... like where to download the CCM update, maybe thats what I'm missing? I dont get it...

Could it be because Ive already started, and saved an offline CCM that's in progress using the default rosters from the season ticket release? If so, thats pretty stupid. Maybe I'll save that to a USB to back it up, delete it from my HD and try that way.

when i got the game saturday i was prompted to download an updated roster and an updated career roster once i started an offline CCM

The game checks for the career rosters when it boots up. You'll see it do so.

If you have a smartphone, take a video of you booting the game up and starting a new offline CCM and scroll to the dolphins and see if ocho is still on the team.
