    Madden User score at metacritic

    At the moment is 4.7/10

Basically there are 19 reviews giving it 9 or 10, and 21 reviews giving it 0.

It's time metacritic grows up and get rid of user scores...

Why does metacritic need to grow up? User scores are pretty typical for all review sites. I definitely don't agree with it but the general public can voice their concerns however they want. Should make for an interesting M14 with all these people upset with the game.

Amazon's rating is 2 stars (out of 5) with 98 reviews.

User Scores are the best indicator of pass/fail for a game. After all, it is "users" who spend their time playing the game.

I posted in the CC v Franchise thread about the amazon reviews. Most seem to be upset at the changes to Franchise Mode and Editing. Surely having the game sit at 2/5 stars on Amazon will lose EA some sales. While I love that they are trying to finally change the direction and improve on the series in many aspects, you have to wonder what the bosses think about the reception the game is getting. They could demand that the game revert back to it's previous state for Madden 14 just to get the reviews and reception up again.

That's what happens when you remove player editing, fantasy draft, and coop in franchise mode.

It makes this year inferior to past years of madden. Gameplay is great, but if you can't apply it, it's useless.

Yup. That's pretty much what people like and hate about it. People enjoy the physics but are very VERY displeased with the new CCM without editing.

But it does amaze me so many people just go and buy Madden without even reading details about new yearly features.

There is no doubt that early on this year, Madden is much more polarizing then it has been in years past. From M10 thru M12... it was just sorta 'meh'. Nothing to get terribly excited about, either in features added or taken away. With this version, they finally did something bold... and I give them credit for that... It was needed, this franchise was completely stagnant and stale.

That said, it's a bummer that they couldn't find the time/resources to make the offline mode open for user customization. I do believe that will be the endgame with CCM. Online will always be somewhat locked down and offline will eventually be pretty much returned to the sandbox style that was in M12.

As a primarily offline player, I will clearly miss the ability to edit rosters (primarily position changes), put a created player into my franchise, the ability to babysit/clean up bonehead roster/depth chart AI moves on CPU rosters... It's a mixed bag, no doubt... But I really love the new on-field play... I think the new scouting, draft and player progression systems are a huge step ahead of the stagnant legacy franchise stuff... It's a work in progress and I think eventually the user reviews will balance out over time. Even with the warts and shipping offline CCM in an almost broken state... this is the best Madden of this console generation IMO.

That's because most people want a roster update and are either too lazy to entirely recreate the roster themselves in Madden 12, or too stupid to import one.

Yeah good idea, let's get rid of user scores because they bash a game you like.

That way, we can rely on major game sites that are bought and paid for by game companies.

Re: Madden User score at metacritic

User scores for big franchise games and other popular things can be tough to interpret. People will post a great or mediocre score without even playing the game. Leaving a comment like "Best game ever!" or "They took away my fav mode so the whole thing sucks". I love user reviews because in theory they're an honest assessment of user exp. By the same token I've learned to read deeper then the star rating or score to eliminate the "less then helpful" reviews, good or bad.

For example, MW3 is a great experience online in-spite of some serious flaws IMO, it gets KILLED on meta critic with 1 and 0 reviews for some pretty trivial things. It also has 10 for the same trivial things. No one wants to take a fair and balanced approach, only give the 1 second version of their opinion. Like most things on the internet, the negative opinion is generally the loudest and most active so it rings out.

It's a shame that the video game industry has started tying developer compensation to Metacritic scores. They really aren't that great of a reflection for the games performance.

If a game has a feature (or lack thereof) that's a complete game breaker for you then it deserves a 0.

Re: Madden User score at metacritic

I went to Metacritic and Amazon and read the reviews, WOW, 4.9 at Metacritic and a 2 at Amazon, I guess more people really played franchise than EA thought. That does explain why the core gameplay has been getting a pass all these years.

EA has been ignoring/frustrating/infuriating the gamer like me, looking for a realistic NFL simulation since the 06 game, but still plenty of people bought and liked the game.

Now they really stepped in it, you went and pissed off the nerd (and I mean that in a good way) NFL gamer who liked franchise/customization, etc. Bad move EA, those dudes have computers and know how to use them!! The peasants are at the gates with their pitchforks, those pitchforks being one star reviews at Amazon and zero's at Metacritic.

Yeah, only an absurd child gives a functional game a "0". If the thought ever entered my mind to do something like that, then I would slap myself and retire from playing video games. Grow up is right.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

I don't know which version of M13 your playing but gameplay isn't great. It's okay at best. Seriously, it looks like M12 except now the players can fall like lifeless bowling pins just by bumping into each other. I give them one thing they did well, an effective marketing strategy that increased first day record sales in four years and online traffic about the game. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!
