Not to mention the Holidays are right around the corner.
That's like saying the NFL is really concerned about ppl buying tickets from Stubhub.

Yeah they might lose a bit, but it's not enough to worry about....and with the Online pass costing $10, you might as well buy it new.

On top of that, speaking of the holidays, people will STILL buy Madden brand new for gifts.

Actually, that's what developers were whining about. That they weren't getting anything from trade ins. They hate that concept.

So keep trading away people, until they developers can make games where we can keep it for a long time

Ummm... Not really. Seats are a fixed commodity. Video games are not. If you resale a seat, you're normally selling a seat to a person that can't get another seat. Good luck scalping a ticket at a Raider game.

For the record, the NFL ABSOLUTELY cares about people buying from Stubhub. But like EA, they can't stop it. Gamestop is THRIVING on this secondary market and it has been shown to hurt the publishers.

As for the holiday sales - buying a new copy at a reduced prices isn't as good as buying it for full price. That's basic math there.

No, that's completely incorrect. Video game companies don't get money from people who buy the used games. It does hurt the bottom line, which is why EA is trying to go digital as mentioned above or other companies attempting to keep people interested with new DLC in other games.

Yes people. Keep trading in games so that developers continue to shut down our get swallowed up by the by the EAs of the world... Unless of course the price of games continue to rises.

Really smart there, buddy.

Not just EA. ALL publishers are going that route. The ONLY reason it hasn't happened yet is because they don't want to piss off Target and Walmart. But, as we move forward, that's going to cease to stop it. Thank you Gamestop...

Re: Something got to give!

on the business trend side of things, ea doesn't care if you trade in a game you already gave them money to, BUT, they sure as hell want to get a piece of the cut of that trade in. They have some plans for next gen that they're looking into and what everyone will find out in a year or so.

btw, speaking of the trade in market, best buy is trying really hard to replace gamestop as the top video game trade in dealer. Let's see how that goes, considering BB may be out of biz in the next 3-5 years. And, gamestop may be changing their biz strategy where they'll concentrate more on Apple product trade in / resale than videogames as they sort of have inside info on what EA and others plan to do.
