Cpu play calling logic still terrible post patch
But now it's only in the redzone. Every game I've played since the patch the cpu hasn't thrown once inside the 20, even on 3rd & 15. The only td's I've given up were on big plays. Anyone else seeing this issue?Tags: None -

Re: Cpu play calling logic still terrible post patch
I was playing in the NFC Championship game, winning 31-28.. The other team drove all the way down the field and on 3rd and 15 from the 30, with 4 seconds left, they ran a HB draw from the shotgun.... ???? Obviously I won a trip to the super bowl after that giftwrapped victory. -

Re: Cpu play calling logic still terrible post patch
have to disagree. AI is improved.
It also depends on the team and the defense you are playing.
Denver just pretty much shut me down. Manning was lights out inside the 20. so much so that I started adjusting my defense towards the pass more, and then he started doing all his audibles, dropping back into shotgun formations, and handing the ball off to MCgahee.
IT was nice to see all of this,
since the patch Ive lost 2 in a row.Comment

Re: Cpu play calling logic still terrible post patch
I have had the same issue of CPU team getting into red zone and running the ball all 3 downs....My last game I played, about 10 minutes ago as a matter of fact, CPU team on 17 yard line, 3rd and 9, run to right side; tackled for a loss of 2.....
There seems to be no programming for situations involving down and distance in relation to time and score: In the above case the CPU was down by 7; 3-10 in the 4th...I am not sure the exact time, but I was playing 5 min. quarters...There should be, with 5 min quarters much more passing because of the time in general.....But definitely while trailing in the 4th, if not also the 3rd....
It would help so much if EA/Tiburon fixed this junk logic or explained why it is what it is...They could probably do them selves a PR favor by explaining their logic...Oh well, when their exclusive rights expires they will be buried - would not surprise me if a company like 2K already has something lined up to drop with an NFL license once EA loses their exclusive....Comment

Re: Cpu play calling logic still terrible post patch
Of all the things they patched, this should have been #1 on the list. Instead it wasnt even on the list.
I dont really know what to say. I am at the verge of getting rid of the game. I enjoy it, but at this point I feel like I paid for a faulty product. I waited for the patch, but the patch still doesnt fix all BASIC FOOTBALL problems.Comment

I wrote a thread about this issue before the patch, and I got bashed for it. People were so convinced that the play now ai was better, but failed to actually test it whether it was better.Like I said in the post is that the ai playcalling is terrible, and the cpu quarterback play is horrible. The only thing the patch accomplished was giving us a mediocre ai running game.Comment

Re: Cpu play calling logic still terrible post patch
Need more info, dude. Were you playing CCM or play now? Online or offline? Personally I'm having some pretty good games in online CCM. When the CPU is down big, they'll throw on almost 90% of their plays. I've also had no issues during the CPU's two minute drill. They'll mostly throw, call the appropriate time outs and actually spike the ball which is something that I rarely saw the CPU do pre patch. I think the CPU play calling logic is tied directly to the online tuners that EA tends to sneak in every so often. Playing a Play Now game as opposed to an online CCM game is almost night and day.Comment

Play Now AI is terrible...only a few of us were screaming "Don't make CCM AI like Play Now AI" but our voices were not heard.I wrote a thread about this issue before the patch, and I got bashed for it. Re: Cpu play calling logic still terrible post patch
I see all that stuff you mentioned as well. In general the play calling is sound except for when the CPU gets in the redzone they run almost every play. I've experienced it in Play Now, Online and Offline CCM and I've experienced it in every quarter of the game. It's as if the CPU coach is too afraid to put the ball in the air in the redzone cause he doesn't trust his QB to not throw a pick. I've even seen this happen late in the game when the CPU was in a 2 min. drill trying to come back but then once they hit the redzone it's back to running the ball and burning time off the clock.Need more info, dude. Re: Cpu play calling logic still terrible post patch
It really depends on which team youre playing. Some teams run more others trow more.
Take tonights game Seatle threw 23 times and run it 26 times and russel scrambled 3 times so makes it 29
49ers threw it also 23 times and run it 27 times and smith scrambled 5 times making it 32.
And when i face a ru. Heavy team in madden i mostely see those stats
Before the pathc every team no mather what team would run it on first and second down and if they were close enough they would run it on 3rd to. Its not like that anymoreComment

Re: Cpu play calling logic still terrible post patch
It's not like that anymore but it's still not right. For example, last night I played the Packers in my CCM. Rodgers and the Packers were throwing the ball at a 3:1 ratio but everytime they got inside the 20 it'd be 3 running plays followed by a field goal. EVERY time and every time they faced a 3rd and 9 or more but still ran. Played a Play Now game against the Lions a few nights ago and they threw the ball even more than the Packers last night but again, everytime they got in the redzone it was run, run, run, field goal attempt. Next time you play a game, pay close attention to when your opponent crosses the your 20 yard line and see for yourself. It really depends on which team youre playing. Some teams run more others trow more.

Re: Cpu play calling logic still terrible post patch
ive been having issues with too many running plays in general still. played the patriots two weeks in a row (with my multi team online ccm...first with cards, next week with ravens) and ridley literally had 34 attempts for 39 yards against me one game. brady threw less than 23 pass attempts both games.
and jsut to clarify, the patriots were tied or losing for the vast majority of both games. it wasnt some blowout where they tried to run out the clock. i knew they were going to run still on 9/10 times when its 1st or 2nd down
hoping the thread i just started about online run/pass ratio fix will work...Comment

Re: Cpu play calling logic still terrible post patch
Yea, I've found that with some teams this is still the case. Patriots are one, another I've found is the Rams. Thing is, in the NFL these days, the run heavy teams still throw the ball 50% of the time or more. The pass heavy teams throw the ball closer to 75%. The way it is right now it's almost like it's 25% for a run team and 50% (maybe slightly more) for a passing team.ive been having issues with too many running plays in general still. played the patriots two weeks in a row (with my multi team online ccm...first with cards, next week with ravens) and ridley literally had 34 attempts for 39 yards against me one game. brady threw less than 23 pass attempts both games.
