No XP for backups in-season?

LaMichael James is stuck at 1975XP.
I play only practice and skip preseason and season games.
Thought he was getting his XP from practices as mentioned in another thread...wondering if he was getting the XP from the preseason games and now he's getting nothing. I managed to boost his AWR a few points to get him to a 73 from 72.
Wonder if it even worth building these guys up seeing as how I'll probably replace them with a mid-70s low 80s draft pick.

I take it back. I must have saved after practice and thought I didn't. Having one of those days.

Still seems pointless to 'work' on getting these guys rated better when it's easy enough to find some studs in the draft.
