    Playing with salary cap off?

Since the salary cap glitch is still present in Offline CCM and i dont want to play online one user CCM due to the cpu playcalling issues, how does turning the salary cap off affect the game? i would for sure apply house rules and not spend more than i could anyways. but how does the cpu handle things in that case?

I am curious myself. In my offline league, 6 seasons in, almost every team has like $50 million in CAP space and studs like Patrick Peterson still show up in FA. Makes you wonder if the CAP even matters.

I'm curious about this too. I'm getting ready to start an offline CCM and was planning on leaving the cap on.

Well if there was logic for dealing without the CAP, there wouldn't ever be a free agent really, well very few.

Every team could retain every player at any price, and any cap penalty doesn't matter, so again, any value can be given to anyone at zero risk.

What kind of logic do you expect the game to have in that situation?

I'm trying it in hopes that teams will make better decisions about who to keep (ex. Lions cutting Suh) but I haven't hit the offseason yet so I can't really say what kind of effect it has.

It doesn't affect things any differently whatsoever; CPU will still mysteriously not sign people to new contracts due to low-balling, and CPU also makes very modest offers for high-ranking Free Agents.

So leaving it off may be better, if it allows things to play out the same and it avoids being stuck w/ the "Salary Cap Glitch". With some house rules

I turned it off even though I stay under the cap every year because the "rookie reserve" does not allow me to re-sign players if I have a lot of draft picks, forcing me to bid on them in free agency after I can trade some picks away for future picks.

The biggest change will be not having cap penalties, because even though you can see your total team salaries there will be no penalty for trading or cutting players with guaranteed money left.

I will say - to add to this, though, there is a different bug I've encountered numerous times. Typically during the pre-season, when going to cut players, when you're cutting someone (let's say I'm releasing a FA punter I signed in favor of a Rook I drafted,) a message will flash "You will incur a Cap Penalty of "X" amount and are unable to release..."

It's incredibly odd and is bafflingly annoying. A somewhat simple work-around is to release someone else, release the originally intended player and go back to the released player and re-sign him. But it doesn't always work. Pretty frustrating,

The other way to look at this is that IRL teams have many ways to deal with cap issues that this game doesn't offer us.

Can I start the season with cap on and if i get the glitch just turn the cap off and continue to play and sign and resign players ?

I don't think that will work. I tried to modify options on my franchise after patch 3 or 4 and it always reverts back to my original setting.

The problem is the rookie reserves. Im in year four and just saw that luck and rg3 didnt resign. And both the colts and redskins had around 10mil cap space. But with around 5or 8 mil for rookie reserves they really only have somewhere between 5 or 2 mil.

But i do t think having cap off will make the cpu sign big players. Ea did this on purpes cause ppl were complaining that in m12 no really big players hit the FA cause teams would resign them like you would expect. So its programmed in with or with cap on
