I got the 13 one. It's not worth it, 5 sets for success is cheese, the rest in fantasy stuff and some lists that are useless once the rosters change significantly.

I actually got a few nice plays out of it but you're right, it is not worth it.

I bought it way back in 2004/2005, and I agree - definitely not worth it. It's a 1-2-3 guide to become a cheeser.

My biggest conplaint is the guides use real world football logic. And that logic usually doesn't apply to madden.

Good bathroom reading material, pretty much the only reason why I buy strategy guides. I don't ever pay full price for them though, only buy them on sale for around $12 or $15.

Hey, Guide writer here, let me know what else you would like to see, we have changed up the 5 Sets with the new audible system, went with all new top 5's and have broken down even more in the team sections. Message me some thoughts and I will be glad to check them out. We have been listening to fan feedback, the 13 guide was different, it was less of a textbook and more something you could actually use in a game.

Should be able to get some good deals early on amazon with it too. If not, we will be having plenty of other free content out as well.

5 Sets are a great teaching tool, it isn't all you can run but it is a great base offense. The less random plays you choose, the better you will get. The more reads you can make on a few of your better plays helps.

                  Re: Madden strategy guide?curious

i buy them and read them in the loo. the 5 sets thing didnt work for me. then again m13 didnt really help enable a useful guide. usually there is minimal information about superstar/ccm player, franchise etc. the focus is head to head usually online.

given you can be an owner then i would expect info on that, developing coaches, affect of abilities you buy whether coach or player, definition of terms and ratings, affect of each rating, how to approach the draft, building a roster, cap management, trade ideas. all of these for both online and offline.

i dont want 50 pages of playbooks with the focus on one formation per team. given that custom playbooks are back then formation subs etc.

if you are building a roster how to build the roster to support how you want to play or given a roster what style can you play with certain types (not current indivuals) at what positions

guidelines on blocking/dline etc audibles and their real affect with OL or certain defensive fronts

guide on how to play as using coach style and realistic stats/sliders ...

a lot of us play offline franchise/ccm/whatever and solo, we dont head vs head or head vs cpu, and some of us dont have l33t stick skillz to press 3 buttons before the hike
