Real Defenders Play on the Defensive Line Only & Pick your Plays before the Offense!!

How many of you play on the defensive line only and pick your plays before the offense picks theirs or don't look at what the offense is coming out in if you play the cpu?
I do! I play mostly online and I rely on my defensive knowledge and skills to pick the right play by knowing my opponent tendencies, mixing up defenses, and playing mind games with them. And I do use the default audibles and defensive hot routes, I also drop my defensive tackle in the middle to help in pass coverage when needed but I always begin the play using a defensive linemen .
I use to wait til my opponents pick their offensive plays but I got tired of them dictating my defense now I do what I do on defense!

Well I say real defenders always match personnel and user control a LB or safety. Why rely on the AI to do the hard work (coverage) for you?

Why use defensive knowledge when there's cheese plays and people that don't know football? Just my thoughts.

No see what you are doing is making up for you lack of defensive play calling skills, that why you use the LB's and safety's to make up for your bad defense.

You do realize every NFL Defensive Coordinator switches personnel based on what the offense comes out in right?

You do realize if you call a 4-3 and the guy comes out in 5 wide and has any amount of skill youre screwed right?

Exactly. The original poster clearly got beat in a game today/tonight and is frustrated. OF COURSE a "real defender" MUST wait to see what offensive personnel comes out in order to match it properly AND smartly. A defensive coordinator who doesnt do that will be FIRED by the next game.

Yeah, I cannot call my defensive set before my opponent picks their play. It's just so........wrong.

Ok, can you all just let this thread just fade way, I see right now im out numbered. But I dare anyone of yall to play me online, I bet I will pick my defense first and do a darn good job on defense.

By this "logic", I could call all the same plays as you in the exact same situations the only difference would be I'm controlling a LB not the DL and I would still have a lack of pl4yc411ing skills.

I think picking your defensive play before the Offense picks theres is opening yourself up to be destroyed by mismatches...

Sure you could pick your play based on the situation, like the real NFL coaches do it, but, real life down and distance situations don't really translate well to the madden world...

I always wait to see how many WRs and HBs my opponent comes out in and pick my defensive play accordingly.
