How do you "look off" a Safety?

The "look off" technique is very important in NFL but it seems absent in Madden.

I am not the best player but when I go deep the safety is always traveling with the WR. Is there anyway to do the "look off"?

I've tried general Pump-Action but that usually results in a sack due to poor CPU Offensive line who let rushers go by untouched.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

But in all honesty... You really have to 'read' them instead of look them off...

I miss that damn cone. Don't see the harm in them bringing it back and letting ppl turn it off if they don't like it

LOVED looking off defenders playing Madden in Tournaments.

Madden Cone Years and BackBreaker are the only games that got that very important aspect of football gaming right.

Whatever happened to that brilliant team that EA had back in the mid 2000's? I remember watching that video when it first came out and bursting out in excitement...now every feature is driven towards the casual gamer. Sim gamers have been totally forgotten about.

Unfortunately you are unable to "look off" the safety. My best recommendation is use specific pump fakes, and combo routes where the safety has to choose the underneath/crossing guy or deep route, pump to 1 throw to other.

Also I wish the cone was back as well. It added a fun element and eliminates half of these 15 year old punks who use the ol' run and chuck.

The last truly innovative feature added to madden. A shame I'll never get to use it again. It was so much fun looking off defenders especially when playing couch co op. Another thing it did was made pressure matter more. The qb needed time to get his eyes around to his target before he could throw and pressure from the blitz made it so much more challenging.

Seems to me that it doesn't do much more than maybe freeze up DLine sometimes... IDK.

I really just read coverages in the first 4-5 yards and decide where the ball is going. The only picks I throw are when the LB/DB gets psychic.
