Re: DBs drop everything

Try defensive pass reaction @ 100 both CPU and hum. Put ints @ 25-27 both human and CPU, pass coverage 1 CPU 3 human. Put DPI @1 and try OPI @ 92

You haven't watched the Packers defense play this year, have you? Every game our corners drop 5+ easy picks.

i see it as a way of the game balancing out the fact that way too often, a pass will be heading straight to a CB.

You can't have DB's intercepting all these because of the insane numbers it would cause .It's pretty much been this way forever in football video games.By now things should be different to represent more variety in incompletions but for now the better option would be to accept this as part of the game and it can go both ways for either player.

I do understand the frustration when your player drops it and he gets a couple like that on you.I've had it happen more when my opponent is the home team.
I totally agree with this. Your average Madden player isn't Manning and as much as it is disappointing to drop some at critical times I think it is better then having 20 picks a game (which would happen with some people).

Every weekend during the NFL season there are probably at least 2 to 3 dropped picks per game as well.

The thing that has always bothered me is the animation makes it look terrible.

Re: DBs drop everything

According to football outsiders adjusted interceptions, there was a total of about 180 dropped/tipped picks in 2012 alone

Was going to post vids of easily dropped picks (including asante sameuls superbowl drop) but y'all can just YouTube them.

Re: DBs drop everything

I have more issues with my WRs dropping passes than I do my DBs. I had 8 dropped passes in my last game and I lost because of it. The other team only had 2 the entire game. I was pretty ticked off that's for sure.

Put the setting on All Pro and good luck trying to complete a pass to a receiver against the AI. DBs catch everything and you will throw many interceptions. Yet if I try to user catch a Interception, hit the button, either drop it or just swat it away.

I'l put this into perspective since that number by itself doesn't tell us much.

First, tipped picks don't apply to this topic. The link defines tipped picks as passes where a receiver should have caught the ball, but it bounced off his hands and goes into the defender for the pick. Thats a dropped pass, not a dropped interception, so lets subtract those out of the 180 number that was given.

There were 27 of those, so we have 153 dropped picks.

Adding up the numbers from the source, there were 461 picks that were actually caught.

If we add those numbers together, we'll have a rough estimate of how many passes were thrown at defenders. This number is 614.

So out of the 614 passes where the defender had a good chance to catch the ball, 461 were caught and 153 were dropped. Putting this into a percentage, this means that 75% of interceptions are caught.

Madden DBs don't catch anywhere near this rate.
