I know the CPU isn't making these moves intentionally, but it's nice to have something that might actually turn out to be a real division rivalry where teams make personnel moves specifically to counter another team and even sign their players if they get released.

Arch-Rivals
Seems that I've made arch-rivals out of the Atlanta Falcons in my franchise. 2013 season, they won the division and I got the Wild Card spot. We both had over ten wins. 2014 season, I win the division and they get the Wild Card spot. They beat me at least once in both seasons and I've played them in the playoffs both seasons. I've gotten the better of them in both playoff games. But it seems like they're loading up their roster to take me out this season. They signed my Pro Bowl LT AND my Center, neither of whom I could afford to re-sign at the end of the season. They even signed one of my backup linebackers, who is a starter now on their team. Then they go out and sign Demaryius Thomas AND Dez Bryant who were both free agents at the end of last season. And they still have Julio Jones. Tony G retired, but their offense is more potent than ever. Looks like the moves I made to bolster my secondary weren't quite enough. Then they pick up Mario Williams in a trade. It's like they're gearing up to take down the reigning Super Bowl champs and division rivals. I kind of hope they can beat me a few times and even out the playing field since I've been dominating them for the most part.

Re: Arch-Rivals
Yup. He's pretty good, though. He's rated in the mid 90s and has been to the Pro Bowl both years and taken the team to the playoff both years. They're a really good team in my franchise. If it weren't for me dominating the division, they'd probably have been to a Super Bowl by now. Look at their offense: Matt Ryan, Julio Jones, Tony Gonzales, Roddy White and Steven Jackson. Some of these guys are way past their prime, but the CPU just sees a bunch of 90+ rated players. Gonzales retired and Steven Jackson is gone, but with Dez Bryant and Demaryius Thomas, they'll definitely be in the playoffs again. I had to go and add another good CB to my roster just to keep their offense in check. I went and traded Jonathan Stewart and a 2nd round pick for Morris Claiborne.Comment

Re: Arch-Rivals
It's rare to get legit rivalries, I remember back in the 2000's circa 2001-2004ish me and my friends were doing a friend league back then where we'd play each other in Madden and keep the results and there developed a legit rivalry between the Broncos and Raiders which culminated in important playoff games between those teams. Even though it was just a video game, it felt like the hits were more vicious in those Bronco-Raider games for some reason, it was all imaginary in the head of the users but those games felt "different" and it felt like the video game characters were feeding off of the hatred that the human users had for each other. Of course in my case it was a human VS human league not human VS CPU franchise/season mode. You cant script that, the best rivalries are the ones that carry over from the season to Week 17 showdowns or meaningful playoff games. Bears and Packers might be second, but ten years later I still view the early 2000's Broncos-Raider games as the pinnacle of rivalry in my "Madden universe".Last edited by BullsBearsSox; 02-01-2014, 10:45 AM.Comment

Re: Arch-Rivals
I think historically, Madden games are programmed with certain rivalries. When I used to use the Titans, games with the Steelers and Ravens, who were rivals of Tennessee , seemed to have more hard hits and they were really hard to beat. The commentators would even talk about how the teams were rivals.
On Madden 25, the Falcons are the only team that consistently beats me during the season. I lost to them again this season. I always beat them in the playoffs, though. They need to beat me in the playoffs to make it a real rivalry.Comment
