    Madden 08 PC - trey31 Mods

Formerly spent a lot of time here working on Madden 12. Switched to Madden 08 PC and haven't looked back. Was on a different site and got trolled by one of the moderators, decided to park some of my stuff here instead.

UPDATE: Newest mod released in Post #7/8 on this page! The most current mods you'll probably want are Dynamic Lighting Mod, HD Players Mod, and HD Ball Mod. HD Players Mod combines and updates the earlier releases of HD Arms, Hands, Blah, Blah Mod and HD Helmets Mod and also adds new cleats.

Feel free to post here about anything Madden 08 PC related.

No permissions for redistribution or modification will be given.

If you prefer Default Shader #32 image, no hard feelings, but this mod isn't for you.

If you prefer Shader #32 Matte, then Dynamic Lighting Mod v.1.0.b (Revision B; Matte) is the Mod you're looking for.

If you dig photorealism in video games, then you probably preferred Dynamic Shader #32 over the others. Welcome brother. Dynamic Lighting Mod v.1.0 is waiting for you.

              New Cleats:

Nike default cleat. Under Armour taped cleats. This includes a cleat model swap (mesh swap) that was used in order to remove the tape from the taped cleats. No tutorial at this time, but changing colors for different teams/cleats isn't too difficult.

The first four images are with the accompanying bump map. The fifth image is without. They are intended to be used with the bump map, but look acceptable without it.

              Helmet Updates:

Style 1: Schutt Air XP Pro VTD II
              Style 2: Riddell Speedflex
              Style 3: VICIS Zero1 01
              Style 4: Schutt Vengeance Z10
              Style 5: Riddell Speed

The helmet models have been swapped (more accurately, the helmet meshes have been swapped). Default model #2 is now #4, Default model #5 is now #2 and #3. This was to get the Speedflex and Vicis helmets to use the Revo model, and the Vengeance model to use the Adams model. The Vicis helmet texture has been updated since the first helmet release. Models have been updated since the first helmet release.

^ Schutt Air XP Pro VTD II

              ^ Riddell Speedflex

              ^ VICIS Zero1 01

              ^ Schutt Vengeance Z10

              ^ Riddell Speed

              Equipment Updates:

All new gloves that fix the moire effect issue. New sleeves and half-sleeves. The traditional sleeves are now patterned gradient sleeves, the single-arm sleeves are solid colored. The other equipment pieces were made to be compatible with Q's Equipment in order to work with rogerjinx's rosters.

              Enjoy!

                  Re: Madden 08 PC - trey31 Mods

On the subject of indexed color palettes and colormaps, just to set the record straight...

A palette is a set of any 256 indexed colors in any image format. You can convert an RGB image to an Indexed Palette and completely disregard anything related to colormaps. The image software will convert the RGB colorspace without mapping anything, because there is no previous map with RGB colorspace.

A colormap uses an indexed 256-color palette; however a colormap is a colormap. It is a map. It maps a location and a color. Literally, there can be no better name for the term colormap. It is describing exactly what it is by combining the only two words needed to describe it. Color + Map. Sure it uses a palette, but it is a colormap. There is a difference, hence different terms are used to describe each.

In an Indexed image, instead of being assigned a color directly (as happens in RGB and Grayscale images), colors are assigned to pixels by an indirect method, using a look-up table called a colormap.

To determine the color that should be shown for that pixel, GIMP looks up the index in the image's colormap. Each indexed image has its own private colormap. In GIMP, the maximum number of entries in a colormap is 256. For a maximum-sized colormap, each index from 0 to 255 is assigned an arbitrary RGB color. There are no rules restricting the colors that can be assigned to an index or the order they appear in: any index can be assigned any color.

It is important to realize that the colors in the colormap are the only colors available for an indexed image (that is, unless you add new colors to the colormap). This has a major effect on many GIMP operations: for example, in a pattern fill, GIMP will usually not be able to find exactly the right colors in the colormap, so it will approximate them by using the nearest color available. This is sometimes referred to as Quantization. If the colormap is too limited or poorly chosen, this can easily produce very poor image quality.

The Colormap dialog allows you to alter the colormap for an image, either by creating new entries, or by changing the colors for the existing entries. If you change the color associated with a given index, you will see the changes reflected throughout the image, as a color shift for all pixels that are assigned that index. The entries are numbered with 0 in the upper left corner, 1 to its right, etc.

blue palette locations... color spaces... bitmap references

LOL! If only there were existing terms for this that clearly define what people are trying to discuss...

There are so many misstatements I find it legitimately funny. And not knowing why alpha channels are in the palettes is also entertaining. Especially when it is obvious.

                    Sigh. Best of luck.

The new helmet mod shares the same PLADATA as the shoes and equipment. I'll try to get a working one posted in the next week or so for you.

Thanks! I have a new one that has updated helmet textures & swapped helmet meshes, new cleats, and updated equipment that should be finished shortly. It's the same one I mentioned to BUS36.
