How do people have all these amazing high rated players? When I get them, they were limited use guys. Do people spend thousands of $$ on this? I have a decent team, just started back up after a long layoff. Buying packs always yields crappy players for a lot of coinage. Was looking at some of the new packs today and you need to spend like $89 on "points" to always afford 2 packs!!! That is crazy. Playing gauntlet, but all the challenges don't seem to give any player cards. What am I missing? Do you have to spend a fortune to get good players? Or is the auction the answer. Thanks for any advice.

Combination of all the tasks completed with rewards, some auction spendage, and getting lucky on packs once in a while getting a 89+ cards happened to me quite a bit.

I've never spent real money on the game nor would I ever. My whole team are players 86 and above with several in the 90s+. If you're going to add players to sets or upgrades make sure you can stick to it and don't get caught making the effort if the set is going to expire before you get the chance.

And that is hugest pet peeve about MUT is how sets expire. Give me a damn chance EA lol.

While I avoid spending cash on points for the most part, there are a couple of exceptions. One, I always buy the Ultimate Edition of the game. This year that nets you 30 All-Pro packs for about $40. Last year it was 40 packs, but this year they also included some tickets you use to play Draft Champions and Salary Cap MUT. That's just over a buck a pack. I can live with that.

I don't fault folks that go 100% free, but I'm paying extra for a game I play 100's and 100's of hours. That $40 makes it more interesting. I look forward to my Tuesday packs. They also keep me from buying packs later.

Those packs will net you a few players, but mostly you will sell them off. i then buy any of the starter packs and and such that are limited and are also super cheap. Then I play the solo stuff, racking up packs, cards, and gold.

NEVER use gold to buy packs. NEVER. It is a terrible deal. Use the gold to buy players the auction house. Use filters to target specific needs and wants. I have no problem amassing hundreds of thousands of gold. So I grab who I can. In past year's they would offer crazy good deals occasionally. If I can grab packs with Elite players for less than $2 a pack, I might grab those for cash. But no way am I shelling out the crazy prices they ask.

The guys spending big bucks need us to buy their stuff. Your issue isn't so much with guys spending money, it's those of us that grind our way, sometimes to over a million gold, to buy players on the auction house. That requires work. But that work is playing Madden. Just flip your rewards. And try to avoid collecting anything. Flip, flip, flip those cards and badges for gold. Many folks are being them to fill out collections.

Another thing, the original MUT kind of sucks, in my opinion. It's great if you just want to play solo, but online, it is a recipe for huge mismatches. If you do get your team ranked up, and you win enough to play the higher tiers, it is then the most boring of games, as every team is strong at every position.

Salary Cap MUT improves on this significantly, because you are limited enough that everyone has to choose to be weak somewhere, or great nowhere. My team is rated 83 OVR right now. I might be able to get that up a bit higher by targeting certain chemistries, but I have that mostly maxed out, too.

So I played a team this weekend who had a ton of 95 guys. At some point he paused for awhile, so I looked at his depth chart. His entire OL were 63 OVR guys. That's how he got them under the cap. I made him pay for that.

Prices have dropped quite a bit. You can get elites in the 87/88 range from the auction house for around 10k.

So I have 93 team, all players in the 90's. is it pointless to have certain positions in 90's who I could dump and pick up elites in 80's. Would like to amass some coins by downgrading certain positions, thanks

I go on eBay and buy coins or cards. i do it for Nba 2k too. i paid $180 for a 93 overall mut team. I got Brett Farve overall 96 LT card(freeze collection made it 99) Deion overall 95 WR card( freeze made it 96) , Deion CB 96 card (freeze & Primetime made it 98), Randy Moss 95 card (freeze made it 96) and i got a lot more good cards.
