Price drop and some more fixes for me.
I hate to say it. This is why I didn’t jump out and spend $30 on this game. The price alone is kinda high for a blind shot with this game. $10 would be a good starting price. Maybe with some patches and a price cut. I may buy it later on.

Hey man, it’s cool if this ain’t your speed my g. It’s honestly okay to stick with Madden and NCAA 14.I hate to say it. This is why I didn’t jump out and spend $30 on this game. $10? Do you realize the work and stuff behind it? Just to get this far? Some things like that may come disrespectful to the team..
What I would say to get a better understanding is to go back into the development and see the things they had to do in order to see why it costs that. You can’t honestly think they can move positively forward with a $10 gameComment

It’s a semi fair point. Especially considering it’s $40 in Canada if I’m not mistaken. I don’t understand why we cling to the fact that it being a three man team justifies everything. I applaud their effort, I’ll continue to support them, but it doesn’t mean the gameplay is somehow currently worth the price tag. The main reason for purchasing at this point is purely to support them moving forward.

Re: Price drop and some more fixes for me.
I've purchased the game the previous 2 years to support the developer's but up here in Canada it's now double the price of what it was last year. I understand the fact they've brought on a few extra people to help with development but does that justify doubling the price one year later?
I've watched gameplay videos and can see improvement in a few areas which is great but personally I find the jump in price to be too much for a game that still needs a lot of work.
Remember back in 2005 when NFL 2k5 was released and retailed brand new for $29.99 here in Canada which was half the price of Madden? I realize prices have gone up since then so putting things into perspective MF19 is retailing for half the price of Madden 19. Is MF 19 anything close to what 2k5 was at the time with awesome gameplay and commentary? Not even close. So how can this development team justify doubling the price in one year especially if they're trying to create a larger user base?Comment

Re: Price drop and some more fixes for me.
They have to make money. They aren't working for nothing; and they are charging half of what the AAA companies are. Same goes with Axis Football. I'm sure at some point in the not too distant future you will be able to pick these games up for $20 and experience Dynasty and/or Franchise Modes in these indie games that a AAA company who charges $60-100(depending on which version you buy) doesn't even come close to giving you."Dunks are tough, but when a 35 footer come rainin out the sky...it'll wire you up"Comment

Re: Price drop and some more fixes for me.
Lets not start the whole discussion on economics and supply and demand. I am sure the team researched price points and maximum ROI and $30 is where they wanted to be. Sure if you lower the price you will sell more copies but you reach the law of diminishing returns. Again I am sure they researched all this and $30 was the sweet spot.Comment

Re: Price drop and some more fixes for me.
Just wanted to chime in on this. We are working for nothing. The three of us behind the game do not take a paycheck. Everything, including Patreon support, is invested back into the game. This is how we are able to make such large improvements from the previous year with new 3d player models, etc.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and we can absolutely appreciate that. Thanks for all of your support and feedback. Re: Price drop and some more fixes for me.
I do think that the price point is a bit high for what it offers. It would be great if this game could be on a service like Xbox GamePass. I think that a lot of people would be willing to try it, but at this point it kind of just feels like you're donating $30 to the team and hoping that they can come up with something better in the future. I'm not seeing a lot of people that are having a ton of fun playing the game right now.Comment

Re: Price drop and some more fixes for me.
I can't argue with that analysis. I suppose it is not much different than Kickstarter. But, in the hopes that we will eventually have a more enjoyable product than Madden, I will provide my support.I do think that the price point is a bit high for what it offers. Re: Price drop and some more fixes for me.
And you get to significantly influence the development of the game: I was the one who suggested putting player names below their icons in Patreon Discord. It was coded into the game THE. VERY. NEXT. DAY.
A cynic would assert that we’re paying money do a job (game testing, QA)... I just consider myself a gamer and sports fan who wants to help produce a good product; it’s refreshing that we actually have voice/influence in a sector traditionally dominated by huge companies who don’t really listen to consumers.Comment

Re: Price drop and some more fixes for me.
From what I have been reading and seeing on youtube I don't think the product is worth the asking price. Seems like there is a lot of bugs and glitches, plus there aren't any features that really stands out. Everything time someone mentions a problem or ask why a feature isn't available the answer is " There is just three of us," or "Its on the wishlist for next year."
I think you guys are trying to cash in on the fact that people are straving for a college football game, and something other then Madden. 30 bucks is to much for this game and this isn't a college football game in my opinion. Three guys in a basement isn't a good enough answer to make me shell out 30 bucks for a unfinished game.Always do sober what you said you would do drunk. Look at the progress and feature set from Canadian Football 2017 to Maximum Football 2018 to Doug Flutie's Maximum Football 2019. Every content for this year is only going to progress further. From what I have been reading and seeing on youtube I don't think the product is worth the asking price. Canadian Football 2017 was 1 person, Maximum Football 2018 was 2 people, Doug Flutie's Maximum Football 2019 is 3 people. We want our 2020 version to have a larger team behind it..
Building a Dynasty Mode, new player animations and player models in one dev cycle was a huge task. The game last year was $16.99 and is a major improvement from last year (for those that have played both versions, I am sure they can comment on that). We have more partners as well (Doug Flutie, Xenith, Phil Steele, Phenom Elite, etc). We're going to reinvest every $ back into development again for next year.
We aren't charging $59.99 like a AAA title, we are still half the price. You need to be growing in business and life, for us to stay the same and not try to advance and grind it out every year at $10 will never lead to our company scaling. We do not want to be an indie game every year, our goal is to become a AAA studio one day (that's going to take several years but we have to take the steps to get there). This year was a huge step forward so the price justifies it.
Nobody is forcing you to buy the game either. We understand an indie video game is not going to be for everybody.
I'll also mention this - I have been on these forums since 2002. I was building rosters for 2K5, playing the old NCAA games, wishing for other options in my football video game life. I figured out where I could fit into the company to advance this project. Everything in life takes longer than anybody want and in this case, you have to be up for the challenge as a consumer and developer. But seeing the long term vision is all we ask.
Last year, we lost out on a six-figure investment from a local angel investor group because an investor read an article that "Canadian Football 2017" was one of the worst football video games of all time. No mention that it was built by one person, none of that.
We would have advanced the game significantly more had we secured that investment. Most investors are not video game savvy. What they see in the public domain will help shape their opinion, it's why we push the narrative on an indie game so much that it will hopefully carry over to any mainstream coverage we get. The average person that sees the game, won't know that. You're on OS, so you know it's "three guys" but the public doesn't. Them crapping on the game without constructive feedback can have significant implications for the company and our personal well-being.Last edited by Spear; 10-02-2019, 08:32 AM.Owner, Spear Interactive
