I've noticed "the not wanting to get off your butt to change discs" tax on a lot of games (digital). I remember back in the day companies saying digital would be cheaper as there was no box to make and no freight. So much for that.

We've discussed this in the past. Digital sales we get about 70% of the listing price from Sony/Microsoft. That's industry standard.
When we looked into physical distribution for launch we were only going to make a few dollars per sale. So, you can probably imagine why that would be counter productive for our growth.
Digital will always be the most cost effective way for a game studio to generate revenue. You don't have to worry about fulfillment, printing, manufacturing, etc which is why distribution companies make more of the money than the studio does with physical releases.
Onward and upward! We're excited for the opportunity to release this physically and see how it goes.

The game is crap and will do poorly as a physical sale. I wanted to like it, but it does not resemble the college game one bit. Each team plays the same way, same playbooks... Money spent on producing physical copies would have been better spent on further developing this years game.

We aren't spending any money on producing the physical copies but thank you for the feedback. We already reinvested our sales into expanding our development team.

I would have went the route that Hello games went and just kept fine tuning your product until a playable version came about instead of making a yearly iteration. Honestly I won't buy next years after getting this years game. In no way does it resemble a college football game. No read option, running game is horrible, and what good is it to have 130 teams if they all act the same? My advice would be to continue to update this until it plays like a college game should.

We’re looking forward to the release of your very own college football game then... these guys did a great job for the amount of manpower and resources they had. If you don’t like the game, all well and good, but try to give them better feedback than this game is crap and this sucks, this sucks, this sucks... tell them what specifically you think could make it better.

The NCAA games on PS3 are far far far far better than Max Football 19. Period.
As someone who paid the full $29.99 at launch, then to see the game at $19.99 after all the talk of physical copies being to expensive is a slap in the face to your existing customers.
Sure hope the game is MUCH better next year and close to being worth the asking price.
I'm not saying that it's not a great effort for the small team, but just a bit aggravated by the talk of we need X amount for bills etc, and all of a sudden it's 10 less and a physical copy which wasn't previously offered.
The biggest things that could make the game better are lack of atmosphere. Just sit down with even NCAA 09 and the way the entrances and presentation is. I know that's hard to do now, but even just having the stadiums being louder, more bands etc.

Well first of all - I don't think anybody would argue with you about NCAA being a better game than us. Anybody who thinks an indie game is better than a full AAA release is being a little optimistic.
We had to form a partnership with Maximum Games in order to make a physical version even possible. Even if we were able to form that partnership sooner, we wouldn't have done a physical release initially because of the economics behind it.
There is no upfront fixed cost to us on the physical distribution but we only net approx $5 per copy on a $20 price tag of a physical copy. It's an incredibly tiny run of physical copies and will mostly satisfy the European market we couldn't service digitally. It's not being released in the EU physically but they can pick up a copy from a US retailer and play it in their console. Something they couldn't do before.
For a digital version at $30, we net $21 - that's why it doesn't make sense to do a physical release at launch. We would literally be giving away our sales numbers to accommodate a physical release supply chain and partners. Instead, we have been able to reinvest our sales into adding two more developers to the team. We've gone from 1 developer for the 2019 version to now 3 developers for 2020. That's huge.
The physical release in February is our attempt to offer the best of both worlds and gives people a chance to pick up the game 6 months after release.

I do wish you guys all the best. I'm hoping that it will take a big step forward.
For me, I think the biggest things are the atmosphere. I could never feel like I got invested in a game. As far as if I was playing a 4 quarters game, with the current atmosphere, it was hard to stay interested.
The other big thing I think was mentioned was playbooks. Where you can run a lot of different formations. And just breaking the playbooks up to be easier to navigate.
Other things I think are just general gameplay improvements in game. But moving to 3 devs from just 1 should help a lot there.

Did you play the game after the third content update? As we added a number of new plays and formations. You can select plays by formation by pressing right on the d-pad on the "Select Formation" button on the play call screen.
