TNT title, Anarchy in the Arena and AEW title matches should be good ones.

I wonder how this show ends. Do we see MJF return and go after Swerve to set up a match at All In/Out or something?

I have to say that I dislike eliminator matches in general, because I think the concept is lazy and unnecessary, but having one on a PPV seems even more bizarre. Just have it be a non title match, and if Takesh-ta wins he would obviously earn a title shot. I bring it up because the match itself will likely be very good.

MJFs back in his best HHH MSG 2002 look possible

And we're back to name dropping WWE/Vince for a cheap pop just because........It didn't make sense either because Vince had nothing to do with Adam Coles NXT success.

Is an 'Eliminator' match AEW's version of a Gauntlet match?

If so, it's really weird to have one of those on a PPV. Especially one that has double digit matches like Double or Nothing.

Nevermind, I looked it up and it's essentially just a #1 Contender's match but against the actual champion.

Shouldn't that involve someone actually from New Japan since it's their main belt Moxley has? Reminds me of that week that a WCW talent (Mike Awesome) lost to a WWE/F talent (Tazz) for ECW belt.

Eliminator is basically a #1 Contenders Match.

Except instead of facing someone else who is also trying to be the #1 contender, you're facing the champ.

If you lose, you're basically "eliminated" from title contention as long as that person is champ (at least that's my understanding of the name).

Mox wins with a familiar stomp and then death rider.

I haven't watched the show yet and plan on doing it tomorrow, but I see the show is still going on as it is almost midnight. I guess there is only one more match left? Even if they are on the west coast, the shows should not be going on or past midnight on the east coast. They started at 8pm, likely sooner due to the preshow so 5, maybe 6 hours at this point total? Jeez.

You can say what you want to about AEW's weekly programming, and the decline in domestic attendance numbers, both are worthy of criticism, but when it comes to pro wrestling PPVs as big bombastic variety shows, it's still hard to beat what they do. It really is AEW in its perfect lane. That show had everything.

I disagree. I absolutely cannot stand their pacing.

The matches always deliver... but they always have. Everything else? Meh. It comes off as cheesy and second rate 95% of the time.

I watched half yesterday half today.

By time Mox match was done it was around 10:30, and they still had 4 matches to go (the 4 biggest matches of the show)

I think it went until 12:30 though, so a 4.5 hour show.

For comparison, KQOTR went just under 3 hours, WM per night was +/- 15 mins around 4 hours.

Being a Sunday night PPV too, ending after midnight on the east coast, you can forget about finishing overseas if you got work, I guess main reason might be because it's a holiday in the US so they could go a bit later.

Either way, WWE found the sweet spot. Under 3 hours for a non major show, around 4 for a major one, but Saturday night for it which is the biggest key in it all.

7pm ET start times would be better though if it's a 4 hour event.

On the final of the 3 (should be called 4, but doesn't fit the slots theme) main events.

Final countdown playing for anarchy in the arena was the best thing ever!

Darby unintentionally diving off the top in sync with chorus was cool.

Would it actually cost more to use the song for the entire match? Each play of the song costs money, or is it a one time price for the show?

Jack Perry running Darby over with a truck! Then the camera pans to Perry possibly knocked out from the impact of the collision, and the crowd doesn't know how to react.

Jack tries going after Tony then Darby sets Jack on fire!

Not sure about that spot where they're hanging Darby above the ring, on the same night they have Martha Hart in attendance, around the 25th anniversary of Owens death. That spot was basically what the plan was supposed to be for Owen (he's stuck hanging above the ring while his opponent attacks him)

I'll say this, PPV length aside but that was a fun show. I absolutely love the chaos of Anarchy in The Arena where they got the music playing. I like how they played Darby's theme when he came out, then the Bucks demanded their music, then Danielson said to play Final Countdown then they say to cut it off because it costs them money and they are on a budget.

A ton of crazy spots in the match, a ton of crazy spots during the show itself. It sucks for Copeland that he got injured, everyone is comparing it to the spot Randy Savage did at Halloween Havoc jumping off the cage where he tore his ACL.

Going to be curious to see where MJF fits in now that he is back, seemingly Adam Cole not being cleared yet continues to derail their whole feud. Hopefully Cole is cleared perhaps by London to do their match on the one year anniversary of their match last year at All In. No complaints, they know how to do PPVs but they need to find a way to translate it to the weekly TV shows.
