    Thoughts on WWE Saudi Shows

For whatever reason, the reddit mods removed a post I was looking for reactions to. The mod bot tried to say I can search for the answer lol, like I'm looking for reactions to the WWE Saudi shows, I can't search for it lol. I figure, might as well post it here instead.

I'm doing a video for my YouTube channel talking about the Royal Rumble or Wrestlemania taking place in Saudi Arabia. I want to include reactions about these events over the years and see if fans opinions have changed in regards to them, or if they still feel the same. Thanks in advance

    Questions
    - When WWE first announced a deal with SA for shows, obviously it was controversial. What was your opinion when it first announced, and if you were against WWE doing Saudi shows, has your opinion changed to become more favorable of the shows or do you feel the same way now?

    - Has WWE's booking and the matches on the card, impacted whether or not you watched the show regardless of personal opinion on SA?

    - How would you feel about the Royal Rumble, WrestleMania or any major PLE taking place in SA? Even though we see the Rumble or WrestleMania as must watch events, would them taking place in SA make you skip them just because it took place in SA?

Terrible idea. No my opinion has not changed. I don't watch them.

For shoes past it angered me that weekly booking was catered to Saudi shows and now it angers me that regular booking that's been really good for what would otherwise be regular shows are built for and paid off at Saudi shows and that I don't watch. Gunther is arguably my favorite wrestler right now and he won KOTR and I didn't watch. A title change happened. Supposedly the main event was good too. Even more infuriating.

I would be infuriated if they had a major event there. They shouldn't even have house shows there. I consider these major events so if they had one of the Big Fours? That's even more insulting. Those shows ESPECIALLY are for your base audience. They're the ones who are putting in the work of hours of viewing every week.

As an aside, it's made me absolutely sick and disappointed to see some of the talent promoting their visit on their social media and whatnot. Like, ok go whatever it's your job, but you don't *have* to be so, um, outwardly partaking in some things.

Money talks though. And we know what that does.

      1. When it was first announced, I was curious as the direction of the shows would change, honestly. That is a lot of money that is being thrown at them, and I was worried we might see someone like a Ric Flair take down a young upcoming star for a title because "they" wanted it. This did sort of happen with Goldberg and The Fiend, but Goldberg did that to Kevin Owens as well. I wouldn't say I am or was ever against the Saudi shows, I just will never personally watch them live.

      2. They have 90% of the time been glorified house shows. I think the last few they have put on have been of better quality, but that point still remains for me. Have there been title changes? Yes. Do they usually end up mattering that much? No. I think the biggest title change has been Liv just two nights ago. Goldberg over The Fiend is the only other one that is even popping in my head.

      3. I would watch them. I would get my friend group over at the same time as normal, and we will "watch it live". I wouldn't change my viewing schedule to watch these shows, even if it was a Rumble or Mania... however, I'm not skipping my favorite PLEs because they are in Saudi. That doesn't make sense to me. It is TKOs business decisions to keep going over there, it's not my business, and not my money.

I don't remember my exact thoughts, probably indifference leaning negative. We know what this deal's for and if we didn't, the video packages and ***-kissing Michael Cole had to do on commentary for the first couple events were very clear.

I wouldn't say I'm any more positive on it, but I'm not more negative either. It just is what it is. I can't fault WWE for making a ****load of money.

Booking hasn't effected whether I watch or not. I've watched the ones that were basically house shows and I'll watch PPVs, even if they end up being some of the bigger ones.

I guess for me it just came down to knowing that this deal and these events are going to happen whether or not I watch, so deciding to not watch would only punish me.
