Meta Quest

They were looking to continue to dominate for years to come which was yesterday's news. Today, the AR/VR Must cut 20% hardware spending by 2026. What does this mean and does it alter their most recent plan below?

Meta plans to release Quest 4 in two variants in 2026 and then a Quest Pro 2 in 2027, The Information reports.

    UpLoadVR

In the nearer term, a plethora of evidence suggests Meta's next headset will be Quest 3S, a more affordable version of Quest 3 coming later this year with a thicker design, inferior lenses, and lower resolution. That means Quest 3 should remain Meta's highest-end offering for years to come, though headsets from other companies running its Horizon OS may feature improved specs and features long before Quest 4.

Codec Avatars is Meta's long-running research and development project aiming to revolutionize remote communication by achieving truly convincing photorealistic avatars driven in real-time by headsets with face tracking sensors, and eventually glasses too. Meta first revealed the project's existence in 2019. In January references to Codec Avatars were found inside the code of the public Quest firmware, suggesting Meta is actively working on bringing the feature to an actual product.

    Re: Meta Quest

Interesting read on how Meta and Google are moving swiftly on Ray-Ban smart glasses as its popularity continues to soar. You wonder what EssilorLuxottica is going to do with so much clout but then you hear how Meta is already trying to purchase a stake in the company just to stop Google from negotiating. Trillionaire companies jockeying in position to win

Google Reportedly Wants To Steal Ray-Ban From Meta, But Zuckerberg Has A Plan To Stop It

EssilorLuxottica has a near monopoly on the eyewear market worldwide, and its brands like Ray-Ban and Oakley are among the most recognizable on the planet. In comparison, AI assistants like Meta AI and Gemini are becoming almost a commodity, with no company's model having a meaningful advantage over the rest of the industry.

That means EssilorLuxottica currently has all the leverage in its partnership with Meta that resulted in the Ray-Ban Meta Glasses. EssilorLuxottica could theoretically swap out Meta AI for Google Gemini, or ChatGPT, and the product's value proposition would remain mostly the same. In contrast, Meta AI in glasses without the Ray-Ban design and marketing would be considerably less appealing.

Google reportedly wants to steal the Ray-Ban partnership from Meta for its own Gemini glasses, but Mark Zuckerberg has a plan to stop it.

I'm sorry, but seeing boy-faced men like Zuck flaunt money while looking the way they do, I can't help but laugh. At least Steve Jobs and Bill Gates, in their eras, didn't look like they had just walked out of the Sandusky-era Penn State locker room showers all the time.

He can do what he wants with his money, but it is obvious that he continues to make poor decisions and cost investors their own money and impact to their livelihoods.

Wait , you mean Jobs who dressed in the same turtleneck, jeans, and sneakers as his signature style by wearing it everyday? And good ole Bill with the chinos and sweater?

Whether you like him or not, the Meta platform, (+$283.25 (149.85%) past 5 years) is considered a strong buy for anyone who wishes to add to their portfolios.

Don't care what he or anyone else wears, as long as META continues to make money for their investors.

VR Will be in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 on Day 1

A number of other outlets and creators also got their chance to try out VR for the new simulator and gave their own impressions. Another YouTuber, Polman, tried the Pimax Crystal Light as well, saying “If MSFS2020 looked good, just wait until you see MSFS2024. You will be absolutely amazed by the graphic quality.”

Virtual Reality was added to Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 a few months after its release, thanks to the community pleading with the developers to include it. Virtual Reality helped make the simulator much more immersive for simmers and it has now become a staple in how many use their home set-ups. Therefore, it’s great to […]

                            Re: Meta Quest

They're the envy of their competitors. With a money pit well-financed for their R&D, they're going to need to stay ahead of AR/VR as others like Apple possibly refocusing and Google teaming up.

Meta's Reality Labs division achieved a significant milestone in Q4 2024, generating $1.1 billion in sales, primarily driven by the success of the Meta Quest 3 headset. This impressive figure underscores Meta's dominance in the consumer VR gaming market, where the Quest 3 holds most of the market share. Unfortunately, the division also posted a substantial $4.97 billion loss for the quarter.

Despite the financial setback, Meta's commitment to VR hardware development remains strong. This persistence will likely benefit game developers as the company continues refining and updating its VR offerings to meet market demands.

The Meta Quest's popularity among VR game developers is also evident, with a recent State of the Game Industry survey indicating that most studios with VR projects are targeting the platform. According to the 2025 report, 59 percent of VR/AR developers are making games for Meta Quest. This figure significantly outpaces other VR platforms, with Steam VR at 31 percent, PlayStation VR 2 at 16 percent, and Apple Vision Pro at 8 percent.

Whenever I have access to something such as this, I will dive into VR. If I am going to invest in virtual reality, I want to feel it as much as possible. Some haptic suits are beginning to evolve toward what I am wanting as well.
