Re: Madden 18 (2017-18) Retro Roster for Madden 25
Not from me. I don't have the biggest interest in rosters anyway and especially not that old. I mainly just did this one to test the new parser I wrote that made this roster possible.
For M25, there's really not much right now due to some limitations. But that should be changing at some point in the future once we have franchise transfer capabilities.Comment

So was this a success in your mind?
I do not even understand what a parser is but if it is something that allows a faster roster to be made like maybe you can bring in names heights weights and attributes from a spreadsheet to make a roster that would be absolutely amazing. A full roster set as done completely through console is so tedious and draining anything that speeds that up would be a game changer.

This is sick. How did you do this?
Any chance of posting rosters from previous games?
One of my (probably weird) goals in M25 is to build a sort of UFL/minor league compromised of lower tier players from the past 5-6 years… seeing player portraits and stats really enhances the immersion. These old rosters give a great starting point in relation to those goals.Comment

Editing rosters through spreadsheets is not exactly something new. Rosters on PC have been editable that way forever, and it's still like that now. Player data (ratings, names, height, weight, etc.) are editable through a spreadsheet like format, and appearance data is editable through a JSON-like format.
Only difference now is instead of only having the rosters on PC, we can share these rosters with everyone thanks to the cross platform file share.Comment

Re: Madden 18 (2017-18) Retro Roster for Madden 25
This roster was a port from M24. And that roster was a port from M20. The bottom line is it's possible, you just need to have something to map the data. We already have a huge library of M20-formatted rosters for every year dating back all the way to the 70s/80s, though the older you go the more work they could use. It's really just a matter of converting all of those, which gets tricky as you go to newer and newer games. M24 was especially tricky as the new Sapien model system introduced a pretty radically different system for handling player equipment and body sizes, which we had to translate the old format into.
Is it possible to have the current M25 roster and add in past players? IE using the most recent week 3 roster, can you add Tom Brady as a free agent to simulate him returning?
What about adding players from other leagues that have never appeared in Madden? IE adding someone like UFL QB Quentin Dormandy.
Super interesting stuff.Comment

It's easier to work with the launch roster since it's not in the encoded roster file format but it can be done to the weekly roster files as well with a little more effort.Comment
