ClassicTeams1975to1983 is still a WIP but will contain the following teams for this feature back more balanced offense / but still defensive era:

Playbook will not be as drastic as former era but will eliminate Pistol and read option plays from modern type playbooks.

I have decided to make a collaboration of classic teams. I love retro season rosters and we already have some great ones with more on the way. But I’ve always wanted to pit teams together from different seasons and simulate what would have happened. So that is what this league is about. We know the 68 Jets beat the 68 Colts and replaying that season is fun in its own way but who win between 68 Jets and 70 colts?

We will see how burnout goes but I’m hoping to release more than one roster.
For now though we will talk about the roster currently underway.

The “classic” teams from 1960-1974 will be up first. Spanning from Van Buren and the NFL champion Eagles of 1960 to the first Steelers SB winner of 1974. 26 teams although the best Saints team from this era is not exactly “classic”, it will be interesting to see how they compete.

***the other six teams will be used to store other players and will not be Canadian football teams or anything like that but anyone can feel free to make them something if they wish***

Update. 5 teams left to name / change appearance. Then it will be on to the ratings. The naming and dressing players is the burnout threat to me. Watching old footage and diving into my spreadsheets and books to balance them against how this years madden plays which is how my ratings are produced is the fun part. Not saying that does not take time but saying if I can get these five teams finished then there will be no longer any fear of getting burnt out and leaving it incomplete. Once I have all the players named and dressed the ratings will without doubt get completed.

Hmmm...this might make me buy the game.

That Joefly guy is an enigma. He starts like 3 or 4 roster sets but never completes any. Same thing in MLB the Show. I guess he gets bored and goes on to the next roster set he wants to create. Burnout is a real thing for sure!

There are just too many players and no console tools to help you do anything other than one at a time. I would have loved a tool to saw all 3200 players get ridell TK helmets as example.

Anyway I only attempted this because JoeFly did have about 2/3 of the players dressed. And some of the exact players I needed done other than ratings.

So enigma or not very appreciative that he got it started.

Latest update - I need to create about half of the 1974 Steelers and then some cleanup (like making a second copy of a guy that was a LB and a punter etc). Then I will release it so people can rate their own way of wanted. But of course I will rate them before calling it finished.

Oh I know. I've made Madden and 2k classic rosters for decades. It is excruciating. I stopped after 20 years due to burn out.

He does start many sets and then moves on. I know you will also check his ratings if players as sometimes editors fall in love with giving players high ratings making them 98 or 99 overall.

Iteachpercussion has a very good system for creating ratings for players to more accurately reflect their play on the field

I only skimmed the ratings of guys he had created and flat out have not touched my creations yet. Joes some were spot on and others way off in my opinion but I think that is because he was not done rather than because his rating style is off.

I agree the reason I do these is for the ratings to be fun playing.

I don’t like the best player at each position in franchise history “all time” rosters because everyone ends up being 95•.

Mine will be more trying to capture simulation. And I like the idea of great teams rather than all star teams because every champion has some mediocre players who are fine as role players.

I also agree Iteach is as good at ratings as I’ve seen. Obviously we differ in some aspects but if you take the best 2-4 teams of one of his season replay rosters that should give you an idea where most of these teams will rate (not the saints lol)

Absolutely not an issue ........ I love seeing them making all those silly mistakes & missed tackles/blocks/receptions/interceptions etc. etc. etc. ...... it was fun back then and will be fun once again ...... at least they had some real characters that kept you entertained ---- GEAUX Saints ! Looking very good so far ............ like the playbooks ---- oldtime running game seems fairly realistic.

Are those standard game playbooks you are using or created ones?

Are you going to wait until 100% complete before you upload anything ?

I uploaded the roster a couple weeks ago but just so I could grab it if somehow I lost everything.

I will upload again likely on Wednesday or Saturday night when the initial ratings are in for everyone.

These are created playbooks to eliminate or extremely slow down formations not used for the time. Playbooks are not uploaded yet but will be after a few more tests.
