Using BT earbuds with cable tv

I know this is an odd question and situation. For the past year, I have been using BT earbuds while watching Optimum (CT) tv at night in bed so as not to disturb my wife. She's not fond of the laugh track on Hogan's Heroes

Anyway, a few weeks ago my earbuds stopped getting sound while the cable box was on. They are paired and connected and they do get sound when my Amazon tv is on by itself (for Netflix, etc). I can't figure out what changed.

I use HDMI one and tried all the different sound output options. Even bought another pair of earbuds. No change. None of the settings were changed on either the tv or the cable box when this stopped working. I've rebooted both sets to no avail. All software is updated on both units as well.

Anyone have any ideas or theories on what might have happened and how to resolve?

Try switching the HDMI port or using optical audio if available. Also, check the cable box's audio settings sometimes they mess with Bluetooth.

Thank you. I did check the cable box settings for audio. It is limited...I tried each selection (Passthrough, PCM, Dolby Digital) to no avail. I tried another hdmi input but nothing. I'll go through those cable box audio selections again just to ensure I didn't miss anything. That would seem like the likeliest culprit.

If I use optical the audio will also play through the tv speakers as well as the earbuds I believe. I just want to earbuds to play when they are connected.
