Hopefully the wildly successful CFB25 will inspire 2K to see if they can catch lightning in a bottle with a return of 2K Hoops in a couple years, and they will be standing here in January 2027 taking home this very same award.

Definitely deserved, but I think it’s says more about how stale the rest of the sports gaming market is than how good the game actually is. It was a ton of fun for the first 2 months then got repetitive (and easy IMO). For a relaunch into the market though, it was nice to see. Hope they add a ton more features next year so it will win this title yet again.

Well deserved. MLB The Show been mailing it in the last handful of years. Same can be said for Madden and NBA 2K. FIFA been improving in some areas. NHL, I have zero idea what they are even trying to do anymore. The boxing game is extremely barebones. The UFC game keeps improving, they added what ? 30 fighters or so since that game came out years ago, every month lately they seem to be adding new fighters.

It's AI is flawed, it's got a ton of quirks and bugs, and is utterly barebones in a number of ways.

But hot damn I don't think I've enjoyed a sports game this much since I was a teenager with endless hours to play all day and night (I'm 40 now, btw)

I've never felt so compelled to keep playing a game, any game, in my life. No joke. I bought a PS5 for this game back on July 22.

I have not stopped playing until tonight (just won my second natty, I think I'm going to hang it up after 15 years coaching 5 different teams).

I have well over 330 hours in the game, and while I could make a list as long as your arm about all the little things (and some moderate things) that still bug me about it, no game has ever captivated me to this degree. It helps that College Football is by far my favorite sport, far moreso than the NFL, but someone up there said it best: MLB The Show has been mailing it in for years. Great game, built on a rock solid foundation, but my goodness I;ve been playing this same game, with very minor tweaks for over a decade.

I would LOVE if 2K was inspired to bring back College Hoops. The foundation is there. Obviously CBB is never going to be as big as CFB, but I guarantee it would be huge hit.

Not being able to Draft players into Madden has made me stop playing Madden. You would think they would work together to implement that feature. With the player mental and physical traits in CFB25, That would have translated so well into madden and rounding out the experience as a whole. What a way to drop the ball Madden creators. You are getting smoked fellas. CFB25 is destroying y'all!!

I think it’s an NIL thing tbh since we can import our own players. We’ll see if that’s true for next year, but I’d assume they can’t transfer the player likenesses into Madden since the agreements with the players are just for CFB.

Well deserved and so glad it's back. Nothing will beat those couple of months of anticipation before this game dropped up here. Seeing the trailers and the breakdowns, and finally the day coming to get to play it after 11 years. Still playing it like it just came out! Looking forward to future versions, but will keep the physical copy of this version forever.

Yeah, I am just now getting into the game more in depth than before. I didn't get a chance to play it much during the actual football season. I am surely a fan minus the bugs and small things that drive me insane. Looking at you CPU controlled players on defense. I am missing the "real" formation subs feature. Looking at you EA. But no other game captivates me like this one.

I truly believe no sports simulation video game is going to be without plenty of warts and moles (freckle's ugly cousin, anyone?) and CFB25 definitely has its share of them no doubt. But I feel like EA really walked away easily with a well-deserved win for OS GotY. EA could have just mailed in their effort, doing bare minimum work on CFB, with the philosophy of ''build it and they will come'' attitude. Thankfully they didn't. It's easy to see all the TLC they put into this. I don't know what experience is in store for EA CFB26, but because of 25, I'm already in for a day one buy (or earlier. Looking at you, Mom&Pop stores). Again, well-deserved win for EA.

They definitely didn’t mail it in, but its core is actually pretty barebones. Again though I think that’d because they worked on the base of atmosphere and getting the game to “feel” like college football first. There are still some gaps with gameplay that could be cleaned up, but next year they have a lot of things they could add to make Dynasty and R2G much more in-depth. Even cleaning up menus and some logic would go a long way, but I expect they’ll add much more depth in year 2.

It’s just shame that the other sports games have been stale for so many years that there was no competition for the award this year.
