    What's up with Gary Hammermill?

This dude comes in as the Niners Head Coach in 2009 in my Career after they went a dismal 1-15.. they're 2-0 on the season so far.

Does he bring wins to every organization or something? Then again I noticed they fired their WHOLE staff, so maybe it's just not him.. but still.

I think someone posted once it's the playbook he runs, the Michigan Spread Offense. His playbook combined with the skills and special skills he has make his offenses very hard to stop.

Oh, I see. That's crazy though. Is it hard to beat his offense if you actually play them as well?

Yeah it's his playbook and his skills, kinda like with the pats and colts... He passes alot and when u play him in the game it can be a headache, but if u supersim or sim against him then it isn't as bad... RB's in his system are like the ones in Sean Paytons they catch alot of balls and top 1,000 yards easily, but only gain like 400-500 yards on the ground...

Btw he joined the Raiders in my and sign Ken Dorsey away from Miami, (b/c undoubtly they got Warner a let Dorsey's contract run out, weird!!) He led them to a 7-9 record after their dismal 3-13 campaign the first year... currently they are 8-5 and on a 2 game losing streak...

Yes, you can sign him as either an OC or DC as long as no one hires him as an Head Coach.

It happened to me once; I think I hired him as a DC.

In one of my careers he just finished leading the Vikings to a 14-2 record capped off with a loss to the Bucs in the NFC Championship game. The surprising part is that it's the same Vikings team that went 2-14 last year, including a 72-10 loss to my Titans team! Last year Tarvaris Jackson finished the season with a rating of 59.4, but this year under Hammermil's offense he suddenly throws 41 TD, 5380 yards and a 96.2 passer rating complete with League MVP!! If a coach can do that, I want him. It's funny because the Michigan offense is listed as Weak I think, yet it seems killer against most teams...

Re: What's up with Gary Hammermill?

To stop it? My best guess would be a 4-2-5. Really though, I think it depends more on the personnel on the field than the playbook. A 4-2-5 without much speed isn't going to perform like it should. I've honestly never played in a game against his offense, but later today I was going to do some in-game studies on the keys to shutting it down. Until then my guess is, based off of the stats I'm seeing from simming careers, it's a VERY pass heavy offense as the QB keeps seeing upwards of 600 attempts per season, so if you can't defend against the pass that well, you're screwed

Re: What's up with Gary Hammermill?

Oh I meant what system does he run as a D coach?

I'm going to use his offensive playbook, and hope to hire him in the offseason as the OC. Similar to what KC did this year, installing Weis' offense and then hiring him later to coordinate. For his offense, I figure you want these as philosophies.

QB - Pure Passer or Field General(I'm a fan of FG)
                          RB - Receiving
                          FB - Receiving
                          WR - Routes
                          WR - Soft Hands
                          OL - Pass blocking

Anyone disagree? On defense, I think I want a system that can cause some havoc and get the ball back...or I want a bend but don't break system that will cause the other team to run the clock down when they have the ball, because I figure I'll be quick strike, and I don't want a ton of shoot outs if I can help it. Think I'm leaning towards a cover 2 or the 4 across. Thoughts on D? I think I'll use the Chiefs(fav team) and start it in the preseason, then try to find guys in the next years draft.

The Micihgan Spread does have some QB and WR options, so be careful on not getting a very slow QB... They also have the Maryland I formation, which is very useful in burning the clock in late games, but just make sure to switch the second HB with either a FB or TE since they just usally block or take fake handoffs...

On defense u may want a somewhat cover 2, but one that don't let alot of runs, like maybe beefing up the front four, with an occsional LB blitz here and there...

Thanks. KC has Tyler Thigpen, he may be the ideal QB for this system to start off with. Been investigating, doesn't seem like Hammermill ever is a coordinator. has anyone hired him as one?
