              Re: Kingdom Come: Deliverance (PS4/XBox1/PC)

Feb 13 is the release date and the open world looks amazingly detailed and beautiful. Almost has that Red Dead feel to it with it's story-driven game play in this open world. The 16-min video doesn't have any "real spoilers" per say, as it shows them ambushing a camp. The devs from Warhorse Studios can sound annoying at times with their commentary during the viewing however.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance, the ambitious medieval RPG without dragons, magic, or anything else unrealistic, releases in February. The first-person game features a fairly complex sword-fighting system, as well as more detailed number-crunching than many large scale first-person RPGs boast nowadays. At least, that's my impression after watching the above video, which showcases 16 minutes of gameplay.

                Re: Kingdom Come: Deliverance (PS4/XBox1/PC)

I've had my eye on this one a while and I'm pretty excited. I've watched a ton of videos, and beta gameplay. Some features I'm looking forward to:
                • Realistic swordplay and combat, with 30+ target zones on a character
                • Can strike with your sword from 5 different directions, plus I think a forward thrust
                • 4 layers of armor & it can be damaged and weakened (items have a quality factor that affects durability)
                • the graphics- impressive! (love the horses, leather texture, forests are very realistic)
                • NPC's don't always wait for you. If you are supposed to meet a certain character at an appointed time and place and you don't show up, they'll straight up carry on and leave. Then there's consequences/ramifications to that.
                • NPC's have to sleep, eat, etc., just like your character
                • Stamina, being well rested & fed have a large bearing on combat.
                • multiple ways to approach and take on quests
                • your fallen opponent can be looted- like everything that's on him
                • I don't think there's classes- you just get better & progress and what you use/practice/and get trained in
                • No magic, no dragons- just a gritty medieval simulator.
                • 16 equipment/accessory slots
                • Clothing colors can represent social status, clan affiliation, etc., and NPC's respond accordingly. Plus clothes can get dirty and you can wash them. (Yes, I want to do laundry in a video game lol)
                • Crafting and alchemy

A few things I have not seen, that I wish were in the game:
                • I don't think there's character creation, because it appears that the protagonist has the same face in all the videos I've seen. But I did see one video mention a possible female playable, but may not be there at game release- may be budgetary limit atm.
                • I don't think you can have a house. Hope I'm wrong on this one.

Lots of great videos are available on this one. Looks like loads of care have been put into it.

                      Re: Kingdom Come: Deliverance (PS4/XBox1/PC)

Another great video Picci, thanks for posting.

Several new things I picked up on that one, and it was well narrated. I got a chuckle out of "Saviour Schnapps" drink, as one of the options to save your game progress.

I think the realism this game represents is going to greatly affect how I approach this game, and it's so far removed from the majority of open world RPG's that are out there now. The fact that if you are reckless getting into scraps and how you can get a wound and "bleed out" if you don't properly bandage and take care to properly heal yourself will result in me taking a much more measured and thoughtful approach to combat.

As far as the world size it said "almost 16 square kilometers" which comes to about 6.2 square miles. Respectable, and I believe adequate, but not quite up there with a lot of recent ones, but I don't think that'll be a big deal. Hoping quality over quantity in this case. Here's a quick list of how KCD world size compares to some others I'm familiar with, in square miles:

                      ES: Morrowind............3.3
                      Fallout 4....................3.8
                      Fallout New Vegas.......4.1
                      KCD..........................6.2
                      Red Dead Redemption..12
                      Skyrim SE..................14.8
                      ES:Oblivion................16
                      Far Cry 4....................17.7
                      Witcher 3...................20.8
                      Zelda:BotW................28.9
                      GTA V........................31
                      AC: Origins................31.6
                      WoW (2004)..............80
                      Ghost Recon: Wild.....170.2

Love the idea of "Fast Travel" identified and that we play out our story through the campaign the way we want.

I'll definitely take my time, enjoy the horseback ride and take in the environment. But as mentioned. Going into towns and villages that you've already traveled to and from, you can use fast travel if you like for quick time and still experience day/night bio needs and find yourself in different situations that can happen at any given time. Even hunting food looks engaging.

There won't be multi-player when the game releases. However, found this piece revealed from the Devs in a past article.

"“Kingdom Come: Deliverance is a single player open world RPG. So no, players won’t be able to fight against each other. However, there will be different tournament options on the map to keep the player entertained. If interested, you’ll be able to compete in archery, fighting or horse racing tournaments."

And to the "Saviour Schnapps" drink? Dilly! Dilly!

This game is so interesting on so many levels. I'm not sure yet if I'm going to get it, but I'm going to follow the fan response to it very intently. Can a game like this do well in 2018? Single Player, No magic, no hand holding, no grinding, or min/maxing to create OP one man army builds. Does 95% of the gaming public know how to play a game without these things? I think I have to buy the game just to support a developer who has rejected the implementation all the conventional enticements.

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

/The game is very interesting and something I have been following for years, but I do not know if I will get it or not, honestly. The world is tiny and it is not as open as I was hoping. Maybe my expectations were unrealistic, but I was wanting this game to be more like a Mount and Blade game with more hands on activities. I remember it being touted as Skyrim without magic, but it doesn't look to get near that scale in terms of the world or the depth of what you can do in the game.

I'll definitely see how it is viewed when released and what my buddy thinks about it who backed it long ago, but it definitely turned out a bit different than I had initially hoped.
