    PES 2017 & 2018

Curious—does anyone here still plays PES 2017? I have 2020, but recently reinstalled 2017 and have been playing that while I await the ML crash fix that comes tomorrow for 2020.

It’s been really enjoyable, especially being fouled and not having automatic free kick goals.

Anyone else still playing this version?

      Re: PES 2017

I think Pes 2017 is the best game of the series on ps4 together with PES18. I like mostly everything about the master league more than in Pes 2020 or 19,18. The Champions League and Europa League Licensing, the menus, and so on. Gameplay is much sharper. There are issues with the budget and Transfer pricings, but it doesn`t take away the immersion. PES 2020 have something missing on the pitch that I can`t even explain.

I don`t play PES 17 right now but thought about reinstalling 17 or 18 and play it again.

I actually reinstalled 2018 yesterday and have been playing that and really enjoying it so far. It feels like a mix of 2017 and 2020. Passing is heavier than 2017, but the overall gameplay is better than 2020.

Yep, uninstalled 2020 and am all in with 2018 now. May still play around with 2017, though.

Anyway, currently doing a Champions League, and Copa America save and will soon start a Copa Libertadores.

Having lots of fun using manual passing/shooting and not the frustration that I experience when trying to play 2020.

I think 18 is my favorite. I have played I think 4 seasons in that game. The transfers can be kind of iffy sometimes. I might pick it back up again now that you mention it. I skipped 19 and have been enjoying 20 but the CL presentation in 18 was something else. Always got me hyped for the CL matches.

Kreb this thread made me reinstall 2018 I forgot I had it digitally. I am currently on the hunt for an updated option file.

                I found this.

I haven't tried them yet in game.

I’m having fun just getting comfortable with the game after installing option files from that season. All of Europe, plus the Colombian league and a proper Copa Libertadores file.

I’m still playing a bit of 2017–the wide open space issue doesn’t exist there which makes defending more fun, but there’s something about 2018 that keeps bringing me back to it.

No interest in going back to 2020, that’s for sure.

Yeah that is the man issue I notice from 2018 is that gap between midfield and defence is worse than 2020 but the CPU attacks with more variety and they defend with more urgency.

I literally keep bouncing between 2017 and 2018, and the more I do the more 2018 feels too similar to 2020. So much open space, so hard to defend and hold your shape instead of always trying to win the ball back.

I haven’t even gotten into messing with tactics much in 2017, but I know they work better than 2018.

I had forgot about that thread lol but popping back into PES 17 showed me how much the tactics do work compared to every PES after it although I am not sure about PES 19 as I really didn't play much of it. I do agree it is hard going back to PES 20 after jumping back to PES 17 even though it is faster the biggest thing I notice is that your defenders will actually step up to block passing lanes. I can't believe something so simple is missing in PES 20 and you really notice it in the final third.

I got really excited when I grabbed that file last week and then I realized it’s full of legends and retired players.

The AI positioning and general strategy in 2017 makes everything that came after it awful (I haven't played 2019 but have not heard the best things). They don't immediately move up the pitch, and they don't try and find the striker with a long pass immediately.

They try and break you down—it's wonderful.
