    Re: ESPN 2K4 Roster help

Man, thanks so much for this.

If you go to www.wikipedia.com and go to each team, you can look at each player and what they throw.

For the 3 Jays you mentioned:

League has a fastball that has reached 100 mph, but usually tops at 97 mph. His fastball has a sinking motion to it. As well as his fastball, his repertoire contains a slider, and a recently developed change-up. He has been touted to become a great closer in the future.

Janssen throws six different pitches: a four-seam fastball that tops out at 92 mph, a two-seamer, a cutter, a curveball, a change-up and a slider. Although he is not an overpowering pitcher, thus far in his career Janssen has been very successful in upsetting hitters' timing and inducing weakly hit balls. In his first two months in the majors, he has proven to be a groundball pitcher who allows few line drives.

Chacín throws a fastball that ranges between 87-92 MPH, a changeup, and a fringy curveball at best. However, he's added a cut fastball this season that is effective against right-handers and has helped him turn the corner in his career.

    Other ones....

    L.A. Dodgers:

Broxton- Fastball, slider, splitter (found this in a linked article)
    Billingsley- Fastball, slider
    Saito- not sure

    SF

With only average velocity on his fastball, Lowry was not widely regarded as a top prospect, and did not make Baseball America's list of team's ten best prospects in either 2003 or 2004. However, he has found quick success in the Major Leagues, largely thanks to his changeup, which has been ranked among the National League's best.

    I will post more soon.

      Re: ESPN 2K4 Roster help

Turns out not everyone's pitches is on wikipedia...here's some more though..

Dave Bush- His solid fastball sits in the low 90s and he adds a quality curveball and decent change-up and slider. He throws everything with good command and poise.

Wang- Wang throws a 91-97 mph fastball and also mixes in a slider and a forkball/splitter. However, his most powerful weapon is his 90-94 mph sinker, which induces many ground outs.

Felix Hernandez- He throws a fastball that has been clocked as high as 98 mph, along with a curve and a changeup. All three are considered potential strikeout pitches. Hernández also possesses an equally deadly slider that the team rarely allows him to use, out of concern that it might injure his arm.

Mark Lowe- His Fastball is clocked from 92-97 mph. he also throws a slider and circle changeup.

Liriano- An above-average fastball that has been clocked as high as 98 MPH, a devastating slider[1], a changeup similar to that of teammate Johan Santana, as well as a curveball.

        Re: ESPN 2K4 Roster help

Kazmir has four pitches in his arsenal. Arguably his best pitch is a mid 90's fastball that he throws with relative ease. Kazmir also throws a hard breaking 10-4 slider that comes in the low 80s that works well as a major league pitch as well. His third pitch is a changeup which according to a scouting report published by Baseball America, appears to be a major-league quality pitch as well at times. Kazmir struggles with his changeup at times however, sometimes not being able to make the bottom of the pitch fall out like it is supposed to. His final pitch is a 11-5 curveball that while having good movement, often comes in too fast to be an effective pitch, usually clocking in the high 70s to low 80s and looking too much like his slider.

          Re: ESPN 2K4 Roster help

Wow! jyd, awesome work and a HUGE help. Thanks Bro! I'll work on these later this evening. This is excellent information. Like I've stated before, this will be the ONLY 2k4 roster (that I'm aware of) available ANYWHERE. So, I want it to be something special. I'll have to check out wikipedia myself to see how much good information I can pick up. Thanks again!

            Re: ESPN 2K4 Roster help

Verlander- He features a high-90s fastball (which has been clocked on several occasions as exceeding 100 mph), a biting curveball, and a deceptive changeup.

Papelbon throws a fastball clocked up to 98 mph, typically hitting the low-90s, with great command. He has a good slider and a changeup, as well as a slurve curveball. He also added a splitter to his arsenal in the 2005 spring training, after some tutoring from Curt Schilling.

Delcarmen's fastball may have actually gained velocity, as he has topped out in the high 90s. Delcarmen has average control, with decent changeup and a very good curve which he uses as his out pitch. [1]

Vargas throws three pitches: a fastball, change-up, and slider.

                Re: ESPN 2K4 Roster help

I'll keep poting more as I find them- Just tell me if you've crossed any off.

Street- His fastball hovers in the low-90s but its sink throws off hitters. Also boasts a nice slider and nerves of steel in tight spots.

Haren- Has good command over his arsenal of low-90's fastball, change-up and slider. He's a big guy with strong mechanics.

Cain- Throws a hot, sinking fastball in the mid-90s. He's a big, smart pitcher, who adds a strong curveball and solid change-up to his repertoire.

francis- Throws his low-90s fastball with pristine command. His curveball can also be nasty and he throws it all with a quick and easy motion.
