Editing Barry Bonds
I'm new to the 2K series, only playing MVP for the past couple years. In MVP, the fake Barry Bonds character had all of Bonds' hitting/fielding attributes, you just had to edit the physical attributes to make the guy look like Bonds. In the 2k series, it looks like Joe Young's ratings have nothing to do with Bonds' real life ratings. Does anyone have any suggestions for editing Joe Young into Bonds? Since I'm a SF Giant fan and a Bonds fan, I'd be may be a little too biased when it comes to this subject, so I was hoping for some more unbiased opinions.Tags: None -

Re: Editing Barry Bonds
My guess is that you'll just have to recreate him. For the last few years, player skin color and tone was not editable, and whatever you change the name to the announcer will still call the previous name.
I just recreated him last year, it wasn't too hard. Since everything is probably at or near the exact same as last year's game, I might as well resurrect my old CAP of him.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60 -

Oops, sorry... I was looking for the "Being John Malkovich" thread...Originally posted by BondsfanEditing Barry Bonds
Here's something I wrote on another thread:
--------
Here’s Bonds 3-year stats… and 2K insists their ratings are based on a player’s last three years:
http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/player...&type=batting3
So Bonds has hit .338 vs Left, and .353 vs Right. And how do they rate him in the game? 100 vs Left, and 53 vs Right.
Meanwhile, here’s Ortiz’s 3-year split:
http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/player...&type=batting3
He batted .263 vs Left, and .312 vs Right. And how do they rate him in 2K6? They rate him 99 vs Left, and 80 vs Right.
Again:
Bonds .353 vs Right and rated 53
Ortiz .312 vs Right and rated 80.
Bonds .338 vs Left and rated 100
Ortiz .263 vs Left and rated 99.
-------
In theory, if Ortiz and others are rated like that, Barry would have to be rated something along the lines of 120 versus Left and 140 versus Right. Which of course can't be done, because the ratings only go up to 100. So any editing is going to have to be done after it's first determined what sort of programming scale they're using to determine ratings, AND after the ratings of every other player in the game have been adjusted and corrected accordingly.Comment

Great Baa7... I knew this was going to be complicated. It will be ridiculous to create Bonds and make him all 100's for batting... but on the other hand, he's been so far ahead of any other batter in baseball for the last 4 years or so... how can you not rate him that highly when everyone elses ratings are through the roof.Originally posted by baa7Oops, sorry... Re: Editing Barry Bonds
It's not complicated if you're not interested in realistic. But the fact is, they haven't created a proper scale for these ratings, to take into account batters like Barry. Or someone like Ichiro or Helton who hit .400 from one side two years ago. How can those two they be rated 97-99 last year, when a bunch of other guys who didn't hit anywhere near that were also rated up there?Originally posted by BondsfanGreat Baa7... Another issue is the ratings are actually programmed to produce realistic SIM results, first and foremost. How those ratings affect the user side of the game, was given secondary importance when they programmed the game. So the moment you try and edit players' batting stats in correct relation to each other, it throws the sim stats way off.Comment

For some mind boggling reason they took Bonds' stance (which was Special 5 or something) out of the game last year. Idiotic move."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

They turned him Michael Jackson white, grew him a beard, took his stance away and gave him a 50 rating when facing lefties. Could it be possible that everyone is jumping to the wrong conclusion, and that Joe Young doesn't actually represent Barry Bonds?Originally posted by ehhFor some mind boggling reason they took Bonds' stance (which was Special 5 or something) out of the game last year. I didn't know that. But then again, I never have Barry Bonds playing in my game. I figure if the miserable sob doesn't want to be in video baseball games, then he doesn't deserve to be in mine. I just fire Joe Young's sorry white butt back to the FA pool, and transfer some real life FA player onto the Giants -- probably Sammy Sosa this yearOriginally posted by BlzerShows how much you played the game. Question: Why would you say that? Is there a relationship between the two that escapes me at this moment -- not playing the game, and therefore not knowing about stance #14? If you removed the player names from the stances in the set-up screen, I probably couldn't name 95% of them.Originally posted by BlzerShows how much you played the game.Comment

Haha I was kidding. I was just saying that the stance was still in the game, but he probably didn't bother going through them enough.Originally posted by baa7Question: Why would you say that? Actually, come to think of it, in ESPN MLB the stance was actually given as Young I believe. Re: Editing Barry Bonds
Re: Editing Barry Bonds
From the screenshots here on the forums for MLB 2K6 it looks to me that the Joe Young fits Barry Bonds pretty well in looks & ratings. Maybe Joe Young will actually match the actual Barry Bonds so we won't have to worry about creating him. There will probably still have to be some minor editing for him but maybe not too much. Hopefully we won't have to create a Barry Bonds & can go with the Joe Young edit instead. Thanks!NCAA- GO VOLS

Re: Editing Barry Bonds
I honestly spent about a month w. the game last March/April and edited the hell out of it. Editing rosters (getting bat/glove/wristband/ colors) and all that correct is something I love doing. I have no idea how I missed that Special 14.Originally posted by BlzerHaha I was kidding. In light of the new book that's coming out, I hope they have time to include in the game an editable list of steriod products for each player. And maybe you should have to purchase them first... like Inside Edge reports.Comment
