Or I did

I'm at work but I thought it meant the CPU would initiate trades to you . With OFF you had to initiate all trades.

I can't remember the verbage now.

yea me neither..., but the bottom line of it all is that if you control all 30 teams you have to play GM for every team.

The CPU can manage your lineups/injuries, but when it comes time for making trades or resigning players, you as the controller of all 30 teams has to do ALL that work.

Re: ***Official MLB 2K9 Retail Version Impressions***

I just had an amazing game using bigfnjoe96's sliders. I was the Yankees vs. Orioles at Camden Yards. I won 5-4 in a 16 inning nail biter by staving off an Orioles rally against Brian Bruney (my bullpen was fried). Sabathia went 8 shutout innings before I turned the ball over to Mariano in the ninth. Top of the ninth I managed to put together a few hits, capped off by a two out, two run seeing-eye single up the middle from Arod. Then Mariano blew it because the AI destroys his cutter. Kinda unrealistic. Anyway, Brian Roberts is a diving machine. Seriously, he single handedly killed three of my rallies; he made two diving stops to begin double plays. One included an awesome animation where he flipped the ball to second with his glove.

Arod is unstoppable in this game. He had all five of my RBI's, and in the sixteenth he crushed a three run bomb to left center. I figured that was the ballgame, but the Orioles had other things in mind (Madden comeback logic?). They scored two to make it 5-4, and then loaded the bases with no outs. I got a strikeout and then a 6-4-3 double play to end the game.

This game has the potential to be amazing and realistic, but it's held back by CPU plate aggressiveness and that first base bug. I had Teixeira pull his foot off the bag 4 or 5 times in this game. That crap nearly cost me the game multiple times, and they were perfect "in the green" throws. NOT cool.

Besides those issues, I absolutely am in love with the cursor hitting. It feels very realistic and rewarding. That homer by Arod felt so much better since I knew I placed the bat perfectly and timed the pitch. Any other hitting system would've felt random.

Just thought I'd share.

Every time I've had the 1st baseman's foot come off its been a throw in the green from A-Rod. Its happened to me several times now.

I've also had the outfielders in the circle and completely miss the ball. This is very frustrating to say the least. You pay 60 bucks for a game cuz its different than the other game I've been playing the past 3 years...only to have these types of problems.

Oh, you just reminded me of a funny tidbit from the game. Johnny Damon missed a fly ball because it bounced off his head...

And yeah, Rodriguez is basically useless at third in this game, at least from my experience. I dread ground balls because I'm always worried Arod and Jeter will "pull" Teixeira off the bag.

Re: ***Official MLB 2K9 Retail Version Impressions***

I got the game today and I've played a few games so far. I liked the demo and I want to like this but there are a few things that need fixing.

Obviously the CPU aggressiveness at the plate is a big issue but to me the botched easy outs is just as big. I'm playing Red Sox vs Royals in the ninth and so far I've seen two cases of the first baseman not touching the bag at first (one for the CPU and one for me).

There was also a ridiculous play at second. Lowell was on first and I hit a deep ball, I tried stretching it and going to third but saw I wasn't gonna make it. So I turn back and the ball beats me to 2nd by a couple of meters. I'm out, right? No, the 2nd baseman just stood beside the base with the ball as I jogged back to the bag safely.

Something positive too. I made a nice double play. Bases loaded. A Royals player tried to check his swing but hit the ball anyway. The ball drops in front of home plate, Varitek steps on the home plate and then throws to Youk for the second out.

I really want to like this as it does some things right. But I don't see myself playing this a whole lot after The Show arrives. Not until these two issues are patched.

Oh and another thing. Am I blind or did 2K decide to leave the custom soundtracks out of the PS3 version AGAIN?

I set all the sliders to 50 except CPU and USER CONTACT, which are at 10 and PITCH METER SPEED and PITCH SPEED, which are at 75. I'm gonna play another game with those settings, but as far as I can tell, this game borderlines a game in it's beta stages. I've played 3 games so far. I'm playing the PC version by the way.

Graphics
7.5 ( batting gloves, shoes, and faces look dated )

Sound
6.5 ( I already muted the Thorne and Phillips )

Gameplay
7.0 ( fielding is awkward, preset slider settings are garbage )

Replay Factor
7.5 ( game could be fun with tweaked slider settings )

The below are the results of a game with the sliders settings mentioned above.

Ive played it 5 or 6 times and already completely done with it. The only thing where this game might have some use is online. At least online play was smooth as silk the game i played. It gets about a 6.5 from me overall. It looks pretty good, it plays like crap. If mlb 2k9 were a woman it would be such a disapointment.
