That's not good.. I read a similar experience over on the 2K Sports forum; online game, one guy hit 5 HRs and the other guy hit 4 HRs..

I personally am gonna hold off until if/when they patch this. Any indication if they are gonna say anything publicly and give us a time table?

i gave up most runs early but settled in...i bet with the right set of online sliders for leagues...this game can be tons of fun

I was able to unlock 5 achievements in that online game alone

LOL

I love both games this year....this game is a must for guys who enjoy baseball
yea has to do with default settings and their new hitting system as its very easy to just sit back and bomb big hr's(make it easier for the pick up and play guy) but you are right with using cursor hitting in online leagues could be very very good.

speaking of online leagues has anybody checked to see if you can fix one style of pitching and one style of hitting. as in make it so you have to use cursor hitting and have to use 2k8 style pitching?

I think they have to (take it seriously). Take2 paid a fortune for the license, and the MLB has been relatively frustrated with product quality so far. Financially, Take2 also need a hit.

2k9

-Improved graphics
-Easier Controls
-Real Time...whatever
-Real Time roster updates
-No Meatball
-Better SIM engine
**IE still a mess
**No Exhibition Mode
**Pathetic Play Editor
**Inexplicable Sliders
**The removal of important sliders

Without Exhibition mode (In Play Now you can't alter the CPU lineup), pi$$ poor AI plate discipline and God awful CPU roster management, it really sounds like a waste of money. Should I risk the $60 and hope for a patch or just spend the $350 on the PS3 and The Show?
I know I ain't gonna buy 2k9 this year untill some of those issues are fixed.

No editing batting stances & pitcher deliveries.

A.I Hacking at anything in the zone

No Exhibition Mode.

That stuff is game killing to me.

I heard that the PS3 is going to drop to $299 this month, so you should wait and see if this is true.

Re: ***Official MLB 2K9 Retail Version Impressions***

Not a deal-breaker, but have they fixed the stats leaderboard for the minor leagues? Last year's was botched. Also, has 2k improved the "gamecast" mode, to where you can now warm up / view the bullpen while batting? I actually liked the mode, except for that.

I've never been a big fan of 2k's hitting engine, as it relies very little on contact and almost entirely on timing (particularly the crappy thumbstick mess). The "eye" thing was also terribly implemented, providing next to no help. Has this been improved? Would you say in this year's version, zone hitting is better? How about checking your swing? Better? I hated that in the last two versions.

Regarding the inability to change the opposing team's lineup, is this ONLY in exhibition, or does this carry over to Franchise mode as well? In last year's version, there were instances where the opposing team's pitcher would start 2 games in a row unless you adjusted their lineup. (and I could imagine 2k NOT finding/cleaning up that bug).

Someone also mentioned that there were several times where the pitcher wouldn't touch 1B while covering on a routine grounder. Ugh! That was in LAST year's version, too.
