Re: Possible first review!! XBM - 6.5
Yes and no. If it's patched properly, and quickly then yes. But they can only review the copy they have. I don't think you can have possible patches in mind when rating a game.
We grilled games like NCAA for shipping last year with all their issues. I mean we roasted them. 2K/VC should be held to the same standard.
I always am amazed that us gamers on this site can find all these issues within HOURS of a games release the devs either don't know about, or more likely don't feel is important enough to address until later with a patch.PSN: JISTIC_OS

Re: Possible first review!! XBM - 6.5
While your right we should hold 2k responsible, the main problem is 2ktried to incorparate all these ideas to sell the game and that are good on paper but are lacking on the field. 2k should of ironed out the core gameplay first then wory about all the other additions, there are so many problems within 2k, new developer horrible code and new game presentation and gameplay and with all that you gather new problems and since VC is the new developer they probably said hell with and put it out anyway knowing the problems that it had and hope they can patch it.
In this day in age not everyone is like us on this forum that really cares about baseball games, kids will buy it, hell alot of us will but it because a portion of it, is that its our only choice for us 360 owners. If VC was smart they should of used the Bigs models and stadiums and worry and hell maybe tweak there code on that, would probably run better then this decade old crap they call a next gen engine.
What makes it worse is that most likely i will pick this game up cause i need a baseball fix and hopefully with mass editing i can get the game to play the way i want. If it as bad as reviews our glitches keep acting up i will have to shell out the $300 when the PS3 drops and pick the other game.Good Artists Copy, Great Artists Steal - PicassoComment

Re: Possible first review!! XBM - 6.5
I don't like to put to much stock into a review, but the more I think about it, a 6.5 could be right on. I mean I can't even play an exhibition game?? I have to constantly face the other teams ace. I play mostly exhibition games. I am almost sure the cpu batter problem will be fixed, but that still leaves the above, and the non-ability to edit players stances. Seeing the same stances over and over will drive me nuts. Almost forgot about the removal of some very important sliders. It looks like VC made a huge leap in some areas, but but totally fell off in others. I just don't get taking so much stuff out of the game.
As most of you know this was a day 1 buy for me. I hate to say it, but I am now on the fence.Last edited by PVarck31; 03-01-2009, 04:50 PM.Comment

Re: Possible first review!! XBM - 6.5
I think when you review a game, you have to take all aspects into consideration. For example, controls and presentation would likely receive fairly good marks, while details and features of the game might score lower.
Remember too, they aren't going to spend the time with a game to see if slider adjustments and editing will alleviate out-of-the-box issues either. So a review could be fair in the most basic sense, but not accurate to what the end result would be for a more detailed user.
Heck, even BigFnJoe96 (who's an avid 2K baseballer) said pre-patch he'd give it around a 7. It's an improved game, but with it's own set of issues. Add in the fact that some seemingly basic features are mysteriously removed, and I'd expect to see a fair amount of lower review scores to be honest.
EDIT: just saw your most recent post. So are you "not" on the fence or "now" on the fence?Comment

Re: Possible first review!! XBM - 6.5
What you just wrote is a carbon copy of what many people here wrote about 2K8. And what many people two years ago wrote about 2K7. And what people said about 2K6 as well. At some point, shouldn't this cease being a valid reason?Comment

You sound like me and thousands of other gamers after playing the head-scratcher known as APF 2K8.Comment
